How smooth do they actually ride in the desert? I'd be tempted to get one to replace the rzr for offroad cruising, and my current truck, since we went motorhome we don't need a dually anymore to tow heavy. Obviously they aren't gonna go thru stuff that a rzr fits thru, but for 50-60 mph fire road cruising, light whoops (reasonable driving), are they fun?

I think you are way over estimating your light cruising speeds. In 30 years of 10s of thousands of miles of baja pre-running my speeds looked more like this

XR400/XR650 - 150 mile ride avg speed on my GPS 38 mph
Suzuki Samuari - from Mexicali, through the laguna salado, up the summit to mike sky ranch avg speed on my GPS 12 mph
92 F150 - fully caged, beam truck on deavers with 20 inches/24 inches all over from Cabo to Mexicali. avg speed on my GPS 36 mph
ElGulfo to Rocky Point on the beach ... inhaling gas like a jet boat... avg 24 mph

My prerunner - running on the laguna salada, with 35s aired at 12 psi at the start of a run will double the tire pressures. at 70-75 mph across a flat dry lake bed, with fully cage and harnesses, if you blow a tire or wad it up, you likely will be dead or severly injured.

So a raptor is probably a decently truck at about 25-45 mph in the lightest offroad I can think of with an occasional bust of speed up to 65 in perfect conditions.

My son's Ranger Level II he modified. Goes anywhere a Raptor can. Dixon brothers front, four link SI rear with 24" travel.

Is the first one in the video the one he is looking at? hahahahahaha!!!:D:eek::D:confused: Man, people are morons. I can't believe the way people take care of expensive stuff.

I actually know the guy that owns that truck now. He bought it wrecked and put a new frame and a bunch of other stuff into it. It's a crazy build at this point.

I’m talking fairly smooth fire roads at 55-65. Desert Trails in the Rzr where ewe run were usually 30-50 mph depending on the conditions. These aren’t averages of course.....just speeds that we run at frequently when the trails open up.

You're obviously missing the point about the Raptor - maybe it's intentional? the Raptor is no better than most any other full-size pickup truck with 35" tires offroad. But the Raptor is better than any other factory truck offroad at higher than "offroading speeds" - THAT'S what makes the Raptor so awesome and it's pretty damn terrific on road too

I know the Raptor and the Ranger are apples to oranges. My son's Ranger can't handle more weight than his 250 Yamaha in the bed with its soft suspension, but its sails through washboard roads beautifully.:)
