I’m working on an old boat trailer and came across this Bethlehem Steel-LA stamp. I used to drive by the plant as a kid with my mom and remember feeling the heat as they pulled the steel from the furnace and placed it on the rail cars. Brought back some good memories riding to work with my mom. Really miss her!

I used to work right down the street from Bethlehem Steel and yes it was pretty impressive when they pulled one of those big ingots out of the furnace. You could feel the blast of heat from across the street.

Where was Bethlehem Steel-LA?

I remember Kaiser Steel in Fontana.

I believe you are correct. I grew up in South gate and I went to South gate high. I took Industrial classes there and we got to tour that plant one night when they were doing a pour.

Is Jorgensen Steel still in South Gate? It use to be next door to the GM Assembly Plant. I have not been there in decades.
