Is anyone planning on seeing that or Unbroken this weekend?

I was lucky enough to be able to see an advanced copy or American Sniper a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it is the best movie I have ever seen. It should be up for best picture best actor director etc. It was so incredibly powerful and well acted. My wife said she had anxiety watching it because it was so emotional. Is anyone else planning on seeing this?

Girlfriend wants to see it, definetly looks good. I thought it would be weird to see Bradley Cooper in a non comedy role.

I will be seeing it for sure. Eastwood is the all time bad ass and I think I like him better as a director lol. His point of view is awesome.

Based on early reviews, Sniper seems to be the absolute best. Far an above Unbroken.

Heard a interview with the author of the book unbroken. True story. I think his name was Gus. He watched the movie from a lap top before he died. She said he couldn't talk but his heart monitor would go wild in some of the scenes. USC student and athlete after he was released.

My wife said she saw something on TV that he was worried that Hollywood would ruin the story so he or a family was involved in every step of it. American Sniper was originally supposed to come to the theater tomorrow but think they changed it to Jan 16th to not coincide with Unbroken.

Interesting story in the news today

Yes that came up in the interview. There were several articles written about him that he denied happened. But there was also some old articles that he had that were true. The author also interviewed his pilot that he crashed with. She also said she couldn't make the shoots in Australia and Angila Jolie was in constant contact with her verifying the story.

his name was Louis Zamperini, I highly recommend the book that the movie is based upon.

I think American Sniper is a must see in the theater. One of those films that needs the big screen and theater sound to be really good. Like Saving Private Ryan, in the theater the battle scenes are just 1000times better!!!!!

My local theater has VIP seats, they serve beer and wine. They bring you the stuff to your seat. Its an awesome way to watch movies.

I will see it Christmas day...can't wait....I read the book, it was excellent......

Some people say "that guy killed so many people". They don't realize how many American lives he saved.

What a hero!!

I read the book Unbroken. Great book, it is a must read. Sadly, the movie is getting mixed reviews.

Reference American Sniper. I am absolutely gonna watch it in theatres.

I did a thread on this a couple of years ago. Louis came to the Easter service at our church. Our Pastor wanted to give him a gift, but he said when he went to Louis home to meet with him, he had 3 olympic torches above his fire place. Our Pastor thought to himself "what do you get for a guy that has 3 olympic torches?" After meeting with Louis for 4-5 hours he learned that the only disappointment Louis had was that he was never able to finish college... Hmmm

At our Easter service, Louis Zamperini received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Azuza Pacific University ( i have it on video somewhere). Louis was crying and could hardly speak, and I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. After the service, he thanked our Pastor. He also also asked if everyone in the room felt good...because he was a Doctor now and if they had any aches and pains, he would be happy to help them. :D

Saw American Sniper last night. Hands down, best movie I have seen. I have never felt anything out of movies, but that hit me hard. I couldn't even speak the rest of the night. RIP Chris Kyle.

Watched it yesterday as well. Went to the first showing in havasu with a ton of veterans. Great movie and everyone in the theater gave a standing ovation afterwards.

Saw it last Tuesday night. I was disappointed, put it should have waited for it to be free category. It jumped around too much. It was a good movie, don't get me, just wasn't a great film. Even having said that, Bradley Cooper's performance was Academy Award worthy. You could see it in his eyes how he felt before taking a shot.

That's interesting. I saw it last night with my wife and there was absolute dead silence afterwards. I knew the ending already, but think some people were a little shocked.

I thought is was an outstanding movie and glad I saw it in a theater.

Same here. There were a very few claps. I clapped. But for the most part, everyone was silent walking out

Watched this on the Magic Box a couple of days ago and was brought to tears, one of the best Movies ever. Having worked in the movie business for 40+ years before retiring, I was actually brought to tears twice while filming a scene in 2 different productions. Has oblamo given him a Medal of Honer yet?

It was absolutely quiet when the pictures where done and the regular credits began. Then there was a oorah from one side then another from someone else. Then the clapping began. I would say majority of the people there were rocking a branch tshirt, USA shirt orflag related shirt. Was pretty damn cool.

Read the book. Its hard to tell someones whole life story in 2 hours, that's why it jumped around quickly. I'm reading the book now and just saw the movie, it was great and Bradley Cooper's performance was phenomenal.

Ordered the book. I just didn't like the editing. Should have been more like Goodfellas in how it was told. Still a good movie, worth seeing.

One of the directors of my company, he just saw it last night. His take was more combat traditional war movie, less of wife back home and it would have been a great movie. Only person I've met, that has been in war, and loved every minute of it. Might have a screw loose, he did 3 tours in Nam, marine captain.

Bradley Cooper did a great job acting the part of Chris Kyle. I read the book just a few weeks ago and was hoping for a movie version of the book. I didn't get it. Most of the stories in the book didn't make it to the film, which was somewhat disappointing. I can only speculate that the time the writer spent with CK before he died is where these stories came from. Everyone I went with that hadn't read the book loved the movie.

We saw it saturday. It was amazing. Very emotional and what a wonderful tribute to Chris Kyle. It deserves more Oscar buzz than it got. I highly recommend watching on big screen. Everyone clapped when it was over. Not an empty seat in the venue and it took us 3 tries to finally watch it.

Saw it yesterday here in Havasu. Theater was full. Most all of us stood and applauded at the end. Lots of Vets in the audience, mostly Viet Nam era. Excellent movie.
