My home is up for a new flag. Old Glory is getting faded and just beginning to Frey. I fly her everyday (3’x5’). I know there are folks on here that have posted places that sell 100% American made flags that perhaps also serve a donation purpose to a rightful cause.

My reason to post this is that I won’t order from Amazon or ??? that may have them made in China (or elsewhere) that won’t profit from my purchase.

The old flag will be retired properly. One of the few things I really believe in (whatching, Grandpa and his WWII vets disposing a flag as a kid with men at salute and/or hands over heart).

Thanks all
Justin

Contact your Congressman. Got one for my birthday that was flown over the US Capitol (on my birthday) that is now proudly displayed. Pretty cool! Pray that it’s “Made in the USA.”

If you make it to Havasu,
there is a great flag shop on Acoma

he is a cool guy and can get you anything if it’s not in stock!

Another vote for Annin. You can order them direct or on Amazon if you need it asap. Made in the USA. I think we’ve ordered the 2710 the last few flags we’ve needed.

When my dad died, my mother gave me his father’s military funeral flag. It was folded properly and stored in a sealed plastic bag.

I ran across it several months ago and decided to replace the cheap one I fly at my log cabin.

So I put it up and looked at it as it flapped in the wind. See anything odd?

It only had 48 stars. He died prior Alaska and Hawaii were states.

It’s an awesome flag, all heavy cotton (I think) and sewn together completely. It’s a valued family heirloom. 👍

Annin flags are good, but I went the Congressman/flown over the Capitol route for both US and state flag. The good part was that they’re good quality and the Govt will print almost anything on the certificate that you put on the request form for commemoration.

Need to find a flag set durable enough to handle high wind. Nearly all manufacturers state they are, but the flags won’t last any longer.

I saw Annin on Amazon, but there was mixed reviews that some knocks have gotten mixed in. I’ll check their direct site. Will also look at Uncommon as mentioned above. Thanks all!

Another vote for Annin, I've been flying them for about 11 years. Not the cheapest but well made, my 12x18's last roughly 2.5 years.

We collect any worn out flags and ship them off to the Tattered Flag Project where they put them to good use.

If you like I will send you my old flag. If you can PM you address. Otherwise, I’ll take to the VFW or others to send her for proper decommissioning.

as this is awesome. i would take it down. if it is a family heirloom the weather and elements will destroy it.

Thanks guys. It’s only up while we are up there, which isn’t a lot.
Rad! Only reason I say is cause my buddy and I had these awesome stainless poles made and he had a wool flag his father in law gave him and it didn’t last long. I was bummed for him.

Yea, I hear you. It's a really big flag. Its is big enough to cover a casket for a funeral. I struggle for it not to hit the ground when I raise it.

Well, bought directly an Anin flag. A PM on another subject brought me to lead my son (12yo) to help me “raise” her tonight. Also put in a solar light to shine it 24/7. Had to look up if it was okay to iron a flag. Dumb, I suppose, but did not want to disrespect her. Found out it was okay. We put it up together and had some words about great-grandpa and what this flag means.

I went through a few "Made in USA" flags from Home Depot before I ordered my latest one from https://rushmoreroseusa.com/ a few months ago. I'm pretty happy with the quality. We will see how long it lasts with all the wind we've been having this year...

Funny, my grandfather was in the Navy and my mother received his folded flag, the casings from his 21 gun salute in the typical nice trophy display case with his plaque on it (name / dates). When my mom died a couple years ago I got it. I didn't want the flag just sitting on a shelf so I opened the display case and hung the flag in my garage. Surprised at the size and quality of the flag (it's large and heavy wool or cotton blend material). Has his last name (Emerson) on the corner. Now I get to look at it and remember him every time I go in the garage. Placed his shell casing in the safe and took the plaque and stuck it to my tool box.

I have the same flag from my Grandfather that was also in the Navy. My Mom had it in one of her closets and I found it when cleaning out my Dads house to sell after placing him in an Alzheimer's care facility. I've never opened the flag up and its still in the vinyl type case.

Yea, they’re BIG. They needed to drape a coffin, side to side and end to end. 👍

I was a little apprehensive when doing it at first. It's kind've enshrined. But once I opened the case and hung the flag up, I immediately knew it was the right choice. Conversation piece in the garage too because it's so HUGE. I'm glad I chose to display it. 👍

I was surprised. Didn't realize how huge it was and heavy. Quality piece. You know, I'll have to look and see who made it.

The vinyl case my Grandfathers flag is in is torn and I've reached in to touch it. Definitely feels like it is made out of wool. I 've thought about hanging it up inside my mancave/spare bedroom.

MAN CAVE MATERIAL FOR SURE!
I think your grandfather would approve of you showing off what he lost his life for!! And so would many others.

These flags were not given out to be hidden!! They were given to remember those who have fallen, to support the freedom America STAND FOR!! Display these flags PROUDLY. And share any stories you have about it and why, when adked, if you have them. People will listen, and appreciate!! I know I would and, would sit for hours to listen.

And more importantly...... Display them in the manner which best reminds you of them and their sacrifice. Weather that be in a case on a mantle or hung on a wall.

We have the flags which draped my Dad’s coffin and my wife’s Dad’s coffin. Both were WWII Vets. We used to proudly display both flags on various Patriotic holidays. Some of the dumb ass comments we received from some of the drive bys were beyond belief. Did I mention that was in CA? Explains a lot.
