2 weeks ago we headed out to a place called Dusy Ershim with a bunch of off road rigs, 2 FJ40s, 2 Jeeps, 1 toyo buggy , my buddy and his friends all avid crawlers and frequent Dusy, Rubicon, Moab, and a bunch more places. I finally had the time to go on one of the trips and I am glad I did. High Sierras were amazingly beautiful even though we had to go to Cali it was still amazing. If you have a rock crawling capable vehicle I would suggest this trip to anyone that has 3 days to crawl plus travel time. It takes roughly 6-8 hours per day at roughly 10-11 miles total a day, set up camp have a cook out, fire, bullshit stories and off again the next morning after a fire side breakfast, that should tell you what to expect. The trail is closed now for winter and only open for roughly 2-3 months. Expect freezing weather at night in September (it snowed on us on the 18th second day of the trip). Was one of the best trips I can remember even though one of the rigs sheared drive shaft and we had to tow him out. Pics coming soon.

Nice! I’ve been doing the Ershim since the late 80’s with our family in Pop’s 78 CJ7 on 31’s!

Pops used to drive the jeep (with a bikini top and half doors) with 4 of us and two dogs from the San Fernando Valley up there, do the trail over 3-5 days and drive home. I’m such a spoiled pansy now that I don’t even want to drive my hard topped JLU up there since it’s noisy on the freeway 🤣

Good family memories for sure!

Yup! Ran the Dusy a few years ago. Three days is a perfect amount of time.

In 31's wow, the smallest in anything we saw was 35's and they were having some issues, our range was 37, 40, and 42 for the toyo buggy. Funny you say that, 2 of our guys drove from the Valley up, did the trail and back (one with a front drive only after shearing the DS). The other 3 were towed from various areas. Now I have another BUG in m head to build another toy I will only be using a few times a year, lol....great times.
