Since this thread started I've been trying to think of the techs name that worked at Lakeland. Young guy, really knew the Optimax and Smartcraft platform very well. I think he left after Lew sold the business. There was a young chick also that knew her stuff at the counter named Corina.
Anyone know if there still around?

Gill was at Lakeland. he is married to Corina and they have started Fallon Marine.

they do great work!!

Yelp for Boat Repairs!!!

Not sure if you have read the yelp reviews for service shops and even some Mfg's but they are comedy..

As a website though yelp basically will tell you that they will leave negative reviews up unless you pay them.

I have never done that here and have always said people can voice their opinions. Just do it tactfully and professionally.

I'm glad to here they have there own gig. Great people and hope they become a thriving business. [emoji106]

I have heard good things about them.

Sorry to hear things didn?t work out for you at Al?s. The shop is definitely old school, I should know I?ve been a customer since 1959 when Al?s Outboard Service was just a couple of blocks east of Lincoln Blvd. in Venice, CA adjacent to Marina del Rey (actually Al?s was there before MDR Harbor was built). In Havasu, you?re dealing with second generation, Al Jr. Yes, sometimes a little stubborn and occasionally a little moody, but you might be too if you had been in the outboard repair business as long as he has. Albert does, however, possess a wealth of outboard repair knowledge learning from his dad and Ted Miller (owner, All Seasons Marine in Boulder City, NV) who was the head mechanic at Al?s Outboard in Venice in the 1960s. They built lots of outboard race motors for me over the years and I?ve never experienced a problem with their work or pricing. Wish your experience had been better. Just an aside, but if you really want to max-out your performance set-up (outboard or sterndrive) ? just drop your boat off at All Seasons and tell them to call you when it?s dialed-in. Nobody better.

You say your boat broke a week before 4th of July weekend that shouldn't be anyones fault but your own. Most of not all the shops in my area are backed up 3 weeks from now. Patients is a virtue when you know of a good shop stick with them and work around the schedule you will catch more flys with honey rather then vinegar.

I met Gill about a year ago over at the old race track. He is a nice guy that does good work. It looks like he is doing well with all the boats in and out.

He had an appointment with the guy. Then the guy decided to change the date of the appointment and you don't see a problem with not being notified of the cancellation?
I don't care if it's Christmas Day if someone tells me come on down I will ........ and I agree to be there I'm gonna be there unless you cancel the appointment.
If I have to cancel an appointment I pickup the phone and make a call. It's not that hard.
Btw I don't know the poster or the shop.

My fault my boat broke before the 4th of July??? Really my fault?? Ok pal. I'm not bashing the guys work if that's what your throwing a fit about. It was his word in a full weeks advance that he would take care of it. Sure stuff comes up and he gets busy. He has my number call me. Nope let's wait until this bastard shows up from a 5 hr drive from California and turn him down and let him know wherever else he takes it won't be fixed correctly. My shop guy where I live is great! But my boat stays at the river in storage or else he would have been fixing with a big ass smile on his face while he swipes my cabelas card and racks up points for me on my next hunting trip!

I was thinking the same thing, every one is jumping jgasman661 shit for calling and making an appointment for when he comes to town, then he shows up at his appointment time that the owner of the shop gave him not that he told the shop owner and somehow everyone on here says he did it all wrong and he waited to long. He even offered to pay OT money to get it done! Sometimes I just don't understand peoples reasoning!:grumble:

I seriously just don't get it. Some these folks on here must have voted for Obama and support Mrs. Clinton. The confederate flag must of offended these clowns too. No more honest business owners around or what??

There's nothing wrong with you stating what happened on a " boating forum ". I'm assuming it's true otherwise you wouldn't have posted it as you're aware of the ramifications of posting bullshit.
Thank you for the review.:thumbsup
