Getting cooler.
Going to start the pre season prep this weekend.
Maybe make a Johnson valley trip in the next few weeks then Dumont for Halloween.
I was just thinking about this. Need to get the enclosed out of my shop and check brakes and grease wheel bearings then move on to all the bikes and can am. I think we may do calico for Halloween

Pre-season annual maintenance done!
Just have to finish setting up new trailer with solar, so cars can charge when needed.

I got my

shocks freshened up
new A arm bushings done
New brake pads all around
New frt axles and upper keller ball joints installed
Greased all wheel bearings and zert fittings

Need to do -

all oils motor and trans and both diffs

Also have a small leak in a rear tire
Need to set up a jack mount for my AGM jack

Then it’s GO time !

Just rotated tires this evening. Took a lap around valley center. Lol.

you guys are on it.
Took me almost all weekend to change out the cooling unit in my RV fridge. Wife and daughters helped too LOL
Hopefully get started on it this weekend.
These days are strange as my girls are older now and are busy with college and work. Which is awesome but its hard to find time for us all to do it together like we used to

Moved mine into the shop last night, hope to start round two of prep Sunday. I did the basic stuff in spring during mud season. I need a couple rod ends, and I need to address a power steering issue. I would like to figure out a spare tire mount since there are some trips we would like to join that require a spare. I carry everything to fix a tire and don't think I need a spare tire, but rules require a spare, so I think I'm gonna cheat and get a smaller spare than a Full Size 34" tire hanging off the back.

Been slowly prepping past few weeks. Got new gear for the kids, put new chain/sprockects on the bike, got new tires for the mini bikes I need to put on, got one carb idle jet to clean out, and need to wash, lube, and put fresh gas in all the stuff. Rock crawler I blew the rear diff and t-case last trip out. I have the parts but need to install before KOH.

Game changer!!! Being able to talk to other cars or in car is one of the first mods I would do
BoGuthrie our car with them. Best thing about off-roading is the conversation with the wife. Would even consider having them in a boat. Bit I am not sure I could affrd the black sock or not on the boat thing…

Just finished a battery relocation which turned into cleaning up the wiring in my car and removed several pounds of excess wire!!! Next will be resealing the RV roof and new skylight. Then onto the kids bikes.

Just finished a battery relocation which turned into cleaning up the wiring in my car and removed several pounds of excess wire!!! Next will be resealing the RV roof and new skylight. Then onto the kids bikes.
One of the plusses with some projects, ya square it all away fresh.

Ok I lied I decided to throw a new belt on the RZR. Figured it would be a good idea to do it once in the garage incase I need to do it on the side of the trial. Also made sure to only use tools that I take with me in the RZR on all my rides.

Well I tore the hell out of my machine today. When the car was built in 2018 they zip tied the computer port up under the dash and I had to take the cage out to get to it, which ended up requiring disassembly of a lot of the car. What a mess it is with silt in places you can't see.

My 2018 Maverick has a Halo front diff with a selectable locker. The steering has always been an issue and I'm told re-flashing the computer would help, but since I'm torn down this far I'm thinking about just springing for the aftermarket power steering since I run 34" tires.

Anyone have experience with this?

On the removing excess wiring front, I found two amplifiers tucked up under the dash and a shit ton of wiring I'll be pulling out. When the car was sold they must have taken all the speakers and left the amps because they were too hard to get to. They are right where the ECU for that aftermarket steering would go.

Car is a total train wreck right now, I opened Pandora's box. However, it was needed.

Save that old belt as a secondary spare. Its already broken in.

Hoping to have the new to us buggy ready to go by the end of next week. This thing has been giving me hell trying to dial it in. I had to fix a few issues that sprung up in the MoHo while we had it out last. Going to have to prep the trailer as well. Vets weekend is our first trip out, so I have a little bit of time.

Spent an uninterrupted day working on my Can Am. Found something by chance that would have ruined a trip. I would suggest other take a look.

I found a sharp, perfect sized rock had found it's way wedged between the radiator lines, and it was sitting right where the rubber hose connects to the hard lines. Without a doubt that would have rubbed a hole in the rubber, or further jammed itself into the steel line and went to work making a hole.

Then I started looking and found a couple more in various places where they could have rubbed a radiator line.

My guess is where you dragged gravel on the skid pan because of deep ruts, you spray gravel into every place it can find a place to hide.

Wires laying on the radiator lines might also be a bad idea, so fixed those as well.

Spent damn near the whole day working on rewiring all the rats nest under the dash. Hope everything works when I push the go button.

I did similar to the buggy today. I get a good flash light and go over the entire car. Look at all the welds, joints, hiems, wires, houses etc. came out clean this time but I usually find something.

We used to do that with the race cars, I was doing the same thing treating this some what like a race prep, but I'm not taking the car down to the bare chassis. I've taken it apart further than I wanted to at this point.

I think most people would never see whats under their dash, mine is completely out and I'm coughing up silt and rubbing my eyes this morning from the hours spent trying to blow the silt out of the car with compressed air followed by a shop vac. I'm sure my shop is covered in that crap.

I doubt I will get my wish list done before I head south. I have a front rod end with just a little play that should be replaced and I'd like to replace the rear radios rods, but I can watch those and replace as needed in LHC. Easier to get parts down there.

I need to figure out a tire carrier and some additional storage, that may wait until I can rope my kid into doing he fab work, he has become better at it than me and I'd like to hear his ideas. He is in Kingman so it may wait.

I'll need to clean up the 100's of zip ties all over the shop floor before @angiebaby gets home today, she gets triggered by spent zip ties on the ground, because we've had to pick up so many out in the desert over the years.

Today I need to make an access panel for my aftermarket carbon fiber dash assembly. The fuse box and brake reservoirs are not accessible unless you pull the cage off in current form. The computer port was buried in there as well, which is what started this adventure. Cage was only bolted on with grade 5 bolts, so that needed to changed as well I guess.

Brought the rzr home from the river house.

Going to have the shocks rebuilt and do all the typical maintenance.

Just checked the odometer and she has 1900 miles on it.

Still need to prep the quads. Small ones need fuel cut off switches and “big” ones need oil, filter, etc. My dad put a bench seat in the back of the rzr and prepped that. Also need to figure out how to fit everything on the new trailer. First trip is Veterans to Ocotillo

Putting new electric steering on my car, the old one only worked for a few seconds every once in awhile. Decided to move the battery and upgrade to an odyssey while I had it apart. And I'm working on a new center console 🙃. Keep in mind it's already been on an Idaho trip this year, so I had no need to take it apart right before our Veterans trip.
