Alcohol may cause many things but, I think cancer is very low on the list. Inbreeding, processed foods, chemical abuse and sitting behind a key board for 14hr a day narrows it down better. Myself, I already think they have found a cure for cancer.

Good morning, devil's advocate here. Alcohol probably doesn't cause cancer in large percentages, but do you guys really think alcohol is healthy, especially in the large quantities some of you consume it?

I only say that because there seems to be an immediate desire to crush any medical person/study who wants to look into things further.

I would never advocate for telling people they can't drink as much as they want, but you have to think there may be some undesired and potentially life-shortening effects?

Bah. Slow news day apparently. Its a never ending cycle of whats bad for you, followed up by we changed our minds, its good for you. The list includes coffee, tea, alcohol, etc. They can never put out a consistent message because there's always a background reason (money) for the change.

I'll point out that a life in moderation will obviously not have the problems of a life in excess, but that might be the point.

Too much of anything is bad.

I really think health and medicine comes down to what the individual needs. Sadly that’s not how we handle things for the general population.

I feel like in 20-30 years, the consumption of alcohol will have the stigma that smoking now carries.

I probably wont be alive to see it, but I do think at some point its coming.

One of my old customers there in Orange said years ago, "Just give it time, the lawsuits against the cell companies will put tobacco ones to shame."

He and two partners created what would be sold, and become "Nextel". He had already had brain cancer, and the two others had died already. "I have more money than my grandkids, even great grandkids could spend, but I may not meet them" He said that magnetic fields and such caused some cancers.

Think you’re right. The good news is .gov is just doing it to help us😉. Just a matter of time before it’s taxed more aggressively..

Depending on what you have, there is a pill for everything.

Ever “Wonder why you’re fat”, go see your doctor….. let them do a full work up, and figure out what’s going on. It might simply be you smoke too much “weed”, or it might be something more serious, like a thyroid problem that needs a pill to fix.

Drinking is the #1 reason people don’t take their medication. 😷😉😁

They are not going to dissolve a 100 billion dollar industry just to help people survive and be healthy. Cancer is the best thing that ever happened to the medical industry, sad but we all know it's true.
Oh I know

Some celebrity lived to 100 drinking and smoking daily so I kinda doubt this BS. George Burns?

And really just 2 years off a lifespan? If I'm wearing a diaper and gumming my food ill probably wish I drank more to skip that.
Yeah, it would be nice if it just cut off the shitty years. But it actually creates a lot more of them and makes them a lot worse before your accelerated demise. I've seen it up close and in person. Not that I'm trying to talk anyone out of it. That's a choice for individuals to make on their own.

… A friend of mine‘s wife quite a number of years ago… was the head of her counties arts commission… she worked hard in her small town… Saved the towns movie theater… got Main Street real estate for the arts commission… put on many events… Relaxation after a long days work… was to hit one of the three local in town bars and have two or three margaritas… many years of doing this she ended up with stomach cancer…
… she is fine now having just turned to 70 or 71… Did she get the hard lesson in alcohol consumption… I really have no idea… nor does she…🤷🏽‍♀️

Go to national institute of health search sv40 in vaccines then search for years to activate and present as cancer in human body. Cancer has been blamed on every thing according to Californias label law but that was to make you miss the real truth. Do not Give up at the fact checkers but actually get to the research papers. Next search threw research papers on how to fight this form of cancer, only non approved drugs and a high protein diet no carbs or sugars at all not traditional chemo. Do your research it is scary as hell. Media has told everybody it is normal to be fat thus making easier for this type of cancer to feed on the blood sugar and rapidly spread in one’s body.

Booze sales are down because a large portion of the younger generations are using weed these days. I'm just waiting for the cancer research to come out on THC. I get fed all of these ads on YouTube with some hot-ish young mom talking about ditching wine for THC infused drinks. Ok, I'm sure it is just as healthy to go from Mommy wine drinker to Mommy hop head... 🤣

It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that this administration is trying to put a stigma on alcohol, they want to ban anything remotely fun or useful.

No trying get this moved to dungeon but Gates is trying to ban alcohol in beer, fermented types drinks because it helps kill off bad gut bacteria. Why this is important search gut bacteria infected with Covid. Thus your gut bacteria causes long Covid illnesses making your general physician believe you have auto immune disease. Only way to kill off this bad Covid infected gut bacteria is with 3 specific antibiotics or fermented drinks. Please do your own research again eye opening when your get past fact checkers the brick wall you are not supposed to cross

I dont think anybody will dispute the statement “Excessive alcohol consumption is harmful to your health”
I think the total bullshit people are raising a red flag about is the implied correlation between the recent rise in certain cancers in young adults and the role of alcohol.
Alcohol in some form or another has been around since B.C. And has had millions if not billions of dollars spent in studies done on the effects it has on the human body. I find it hard to believe today they are saying “ can alcohol cause cancer”.

Now if they want to study any adverse effects alcohol has on a post MrNa vaccinated cohort I say, Fund it and let’s publish the results. 🤔

My uncle lived the same life for 62 years.

Except he drove an old station wagon and if he got drunk enough he’d “pop wheelies” in it in the front yard of my parents house.

Agree 100%. What’s crazy is the coordinated effort around it. I saw no less than 20 IG posts on going sober the last couple days. The number of comments supporting it were expected. The number of new accounts with no posts and very few followers were incredible.

Fair enough, but I'd argue that we have more and better data than before and also have the ability to run better tests.

What if because of that additional data and enhanced testing there was a correlation drawn between alcohol and cancer? Would people stop drinking? Probably not. It's been pretty proven smoking has a link to cancer, but people still smoke. I bet before that link was identified, there were plenty of people calling bullshit on the studies.

I guess my point is why crap on the studies before they are done? As long as those studies are verifiable and unbiased in their results, there might just be some information revealed that could cause you or someone you care about to make a change. Regulating, taxing, or forcing people to make that change is a whole other story, which I definitely don't agree with.

Wouldn't it be nice to have some pretty conclusive information that shows certain choices (that should remain choices) are detrimental to your health?

I was going to point my wife’s cousins daughter to this thread and see what she thought about it.
32 year-old alcoholic with three young kids.
Oh yeah, wait, I can’t. She died three days ago of liver failure.
