The boat looks like a lightweight layup or at least, a different layup with the materials seen in the photo posted by Riverbound. So the capsule isn't part of the deck, but looks to be removable. Play on Friday, race on Saturday and ski on Sunday. 👍 It looks like the strap on the bottom rear of the capsule is secured to a u-bolt running through the stringer. I imagine the opposite side is rigged the same. Pretty slick install. Thank you for posting the pics and the information on the boat! Congratulations to Al Stoker, I'm sure pops is smiling down on him!

The reason capsule are not allowed is not enough safety boats with capsule trained rescue personnel for the length of the race course.

How was he able to run a capsule then?

Congratulations
Al
Nice boat combo ❤️ it.
Good for the rules committee.
Very inspirational, I already have a name for it
WAR CANOE 111
Funny thing it looks like your boat with a different name lol.
If you can't beat it join it .
Once again Stoker sets the standard of perfection

Yeah that’s all bullshit..

Randy has been fishing the Bisbee. lol. Nice story though.

Not to take anything away from Stoker, the boat looked and ran great. We were there for most of the day and I told Michael the capsule stoker is gonna win this thing..

RD

I'm sure it is. Just trash talk in the pits.

😜

And if you don't follow the series closely, it's easy to be confused.

The Good news is it seems like we could have some competition/animosity now? The sport has Needed that for awhile. When the same team wins the overall, year after year, it has to get boring for them.

Hopefully both teams will compete head to head next year, and bring some needed attention back to the Enduro. 👍🏼

Not with the current prop shaft height rules.
And weight limitation, compression/fuel restriction. We ran 107 with our Stokers following the rules.

I kept hearing them say 3 on the live feed. But only recall seeing them pit twice.
It's been 2 for as long as I can remember, but I haven't crewed since they moved it to LaPaz

It really is two . But you might think of three because they can come out after the warm up lap to top off fuel . Unfortunately my Mandella team had fuel or spark issues . It was down on power .

Was it the 20' or 22' that so many in the Stoker know were convinced they wouldn't perform well with a new 400 or 450R ?
Or was this hull just built differently with that as a prime consideration ?

This example is damned impressive 👍👍

It's a new purpose built 22. They did not pick up a used hull and rig it with a 450r.

The 20 is the one that doesn't like a heavy motor/big lower unit. The 22 was built for 'em.

The 22 ( old version) and the 2204 ( Parker Enduro boat) supposedly have the same bottom, different deck.

I have a 22 and was told that a 400 wouldnt work .. reasons were various::

Lower unit diameter was too big

Transom/boat wasnt designed to handle the extra weight ( +/- 100 lbs)

Too much stress on the floor/rear of the hull.

Yadda ..yadda..

Obviously with the 450 it does work but it depends on who's driving.

That was 3 years ago. My 22 ( built in '89) has a new '22 400 on it. 15 hours , just finished break in. It works.. trim and lower height is everything with these boats. And, my new transom is bullet proof compared to the original.. So, that said R &D is everything, heighth of the bullet, trimmed out and running AND correct prop size.. still figuring it out.

But. As boat owners, we always push the limit and theres a fine line from perfect to disaster.

Just my .02..

Edit.. my comment was directed more towards the extra hp and traveling at a high rate of speed.. things happen pretty quick over 90..

A majority of my driving is well under 50. Running the Enduro at 80, 90 or more for 3 hours is not something we all do

Congratulations to Al. We bought our family play boat which is a 18 foot open bow Wellcraft. We bought it from John and Al and they had it for sale as a used boat with a blown up V6 motor in it in the mid 90’s. John and Al recommended that we put a high-performance panther jet V6 in the boat and bolted it up to the stock OMC outdrive. They made custom exhaust TIG welded elbows with high-performance exhaust manifolds to get it all to fit correctly. We still have that boat and it’s pretty damn quick for a little v bottom open bow boat. Al definitely knows how to make things go fast! Once again, congratulations to Al 👍

Spoke to Al this afternoon. Basically asking if I could order a new 224 with a 450. He said not yet as there’s still some things he has to work on.

I wasn’t going to pull the trigger right now anyway. But will be in the future. 😉

I’m curious, if you can’t order a 224, then is it a “production type” boat as per the RPM rule book? Could someone protest the prototype hull or is the internal gussets for the transom and top cap the difference on the OG bottom design?

It’s not a new or prototype hull. It’s an existing hull that hasn’t been produced in years, since before this engine tech came out. They wont build this combination for the public until Al says it is right. When he says it’s right, it’s right.

He didn’t have belts to hold him in the seat and the canopy wasn’t locked down. The biggest challenge for rescue personnel is getting the driver out of the capsule if the driver can’t get out on his own if a crash occurs. Every capsule has different canopy latches and the rescue team looks at each boat and they talk to the crew on seatbelts, air systems and escape latches. The enduro rules are changed and voted on each year and class rules can change also. I have seen many racers at the boat inspection before the race get into heated arguments with officials on interpretation of the rules and the officials always win.

Not sure how you took what I said as it’s not a production boat. A 224 can be ordered and you could do whatever you want with it. So it is a production boat. I have always listened to Al when it comes to the setup of my boats. He knows what I want to do with it and the setup with a 450 needs some more tweaks before he’s happy with it.

What do you think a lightweight 224 could run mph wise with a 450 with correct prop and gearing for MPH focus, 125?

What was the point of the capsule? Seems like the boat had no problem getting to the max speed limit of the course. Was it for driver fatigue?

Seems to me that the wind at 100mph would take a toll on you hold on to the steering wheel for 4 hrs and sitting in a wind free environment eliminate that allowing you to not get as fatigued.

Congratulations to Jon Roth and Al Stoker on your big win at the 2022 Parker Enduro. Recently we partnered with Al Stoker with Stoker Boats to obtain the molds and build the 204 and 224 Stoker boats for the general public.
Stoker number one we began in Spring 2022 was for Jon Roth, a well known racer and boat enthusiast. The Kevlar #48 224 Stoker powered by a single @mercuryracing 450R and closed capsule took first at the 2022 Parker Enduro. A huge win for Eliminator and Stoker.
Eliminator is proud to be partnered with Al and will continue building these small performance crafts.

Yes. The 20 SSTs with 2.5s are capable of 110mph even under the very restrictive Enduro rules.
sorry,gotta call a spade a spade.i have owned both a 201 and a 224 Stoker and a Mirage with a 2.5 drag300 for three decades and 110 with 2.5 under enduro rules is NO beuno..and even without rules,probably a stretch..not hating..do your research

Awesome picture for sure!! 😍

It would have been CLEAN if they had made a cockpit cover out of carbon fiber, to cover the entire cockpit opening. Then mold the top half of this ^^^^^ cover on top of the whole cockpit cover..... If that makes any sense. Follow the lines of this deck, and remove any of the wind turbulence from inside the hull. Maybe it wouldn't have made the boat any faster, but it surely would have been a sano install. Either way, it's a badass boat!!

I have personally owned 3 20 SSTs and have been racing them for 40 years. Unrestricted in the high teens. In the Enduro, rules restricted GPS verified by SCSC officials 108mph with 2 different boats. Boats #34, 48, 307, 312 are all capable of 120 unrestricted and 108 restricted. This is personal verified fact.

Al and Greg Foster are much more comfortable running 110 in race conditions with a capsule. It is a very valid safety issue. They both have vast experience running MOD VP tunnel boats with and without capsules.

It looks like they installed a mod vp cockpit, tunnel to the boat. I don’t believe they allowed mod vp boats to complete in the enduro.

I love my stokers don’t get me wrong they are a great hot rod that takes rough water good. With that being said they don’t even come close in comparison acceleration and TopSpeed to STVs and Mirages..PERIOD
Come play with us in Delta sometime..
Ryan Manyon had a BEUTIFUL 20’ Stoker with Drag 300 and best he seen was 109mph and that was a light boat with years of testing and tuning..
Bring it don’t sing it😎
