WELCOME TO RIVER DAVES PLACE

Airliner crash in Kazakhstan, not sure what is going on here but the pilot was sure struggling and fighting to save this plane.

29 people survived, hats off the pilots, RIP to them and the ones that didn't make it
The flight crew made a commendable effort to get it on the ground. It looks like the plane was in phugoid oscillations in the video you posted, and that the pilots lost control just before it crashed. They acquitted themselves well, saving many lives.

It looks like at the same time it came down, there were drones coming in. The foreign news are thinking it was brought down by air defense targeting drones. That may explain the shot gun blast type damage. Sad deal, pilots did the best they could, but were flying a brick.

Looks to be a proximity burst. Probably hit some hydro lines in the tail section creating the unrecoverable nose down attitude. Trim would’ve been knocked out which would have assisted in compensating. Helluva job regardless.

One of the videos shot by a passenger showed a chunk of the fairing that covers the flaps actuator missing. Missile fragments.

Since mainstream news is not reporting same, I'd say its Ukraine.

Bird strike
GPS outage

None of which should normally bring down a modern airliner

Sulley not included in this convo

The geography doesn't work out for this to be Ukrainian missiles.

The Russians are pulling a page out of the script from the movie 13 Days, when the Navy Captain reports his RF-8 was hit by "sparrows", when in fact the airplane had sustained anti-aircraft gun damage.

My guess is some poorly trained Russian conscript manning an Air-to-Air missile battery got jumpy and fired on the airliner. A similar incident happened in Iran several years ago.

The next question is why the airplane flew all the way across the Caspian Sea while leaking hydraulic fluid and didn't land at the destination.

He’s also an airline pilot. He’s really good at details and explaining in a way that anybody listening can understand.
Yes, I knew he is a pilot. I have seen some his other airplane related video. He does do a great job of explaining.

Hadn't heard about the GPS being jammed, but the rest sounds about like the first reports out of the foreign media. The first one to state Russia is taking responsibility for it though was the "Center for Countering Disinformation" out of Ukraine. I don't know if Russia will admit it if they are responsible. It is interesting to me that the plane was headed to Grozny. Grozny was attacked with drones last week, the ruler there, Kadyrov announced more troops to back Russia in Ukraine. More drone attacks, and now this.
It's very possible Russia was jamming GPS for drones, and then also fired the missile. With the current world, who knows if we'll ever know.

GPS jamming isn't directed at individual aircraft or drones. It involves producing signals that mimic and overpower the output from the GPS constellation in targeted areas. It causes receivers in the affected area to shut down, because they detect the information is corrupted. Drones apparently see this as a loss of signal, and fly aimlessly until fuel or batteries are exhausted.

GPS spoofing targets a single receiver with signals that again overpower the real constellation, but the information to the receiver substitutes erroneous location information. It causes the individual receiver to believe it is following the desired track, but instead the receiver will steer the drone or aircraft far off the intended course.

It appears that jamming rendered the airliner's GPS inactive, and Russian ATC gave the crew false vectors which routed the aircraft over the Caspian Sea. I don't know more than that.
