Wife told me that someone was airlifted from Pirate’s yesterday. Something about jumping from the bridge and got in trouble. Anyone know anything about this? Hope the guy is doing well. 👍

Yes that is it. Brian is a good buddy of mine and it was a close friend of his that almost drowned.
They were up in the gorge jumping off rocks and they think he landed wrong (they didnt see his landing but heard people gasp) he then surfaced and was trying to grab onto the rocks to get out of the water but couldnt and went under. Brian and my other buddy Nick jumped in and went searching for him. They dove down like 6-7 times trying to find him it was all sea weeds on the bottom. Finally Nick went down and saw the white of his palm through the weeds. He grabbed him and was able to get up to the surface. They got him over onto the beach and by that time there was a registered nurse on a jet ski that stopped to help along with a lapd officer and lafd fire fighter, they all jumped into action performing cpr. Luckily the SBC fire boat was patrolling in the gorge and was there fast. They got him onto the fire boat to take him up to pirates and by that time they had a pulse. By the time he was getting put onto the helo to vegas he was somewhat alert.
They talked to him today and he seems to be doing good.

Scary situation that could have had a very different outcome. And huge debt of gratitude to the first responders that stopped and jumped right into action to save this mans life.

Badass. I’m glad he was surrounded by good people.

I saw this story start yesterday, it was a mix of details and some speculations. I am happy to see this being a positive outcome.

Jumping off the rocks is a iffy deal. Was hanging out last night at a neighbors. She slapped her ass off the big rock at Echo and holy shit her whole ass and thighs is black and blue. Another neighbor tried to do a flip and backflopped and almost went under.

Many years ago at Naci a guy Xavier jumped and stuck in the mud and drowned. Since then no Jumping from my boat crew.

Lake Oroville hwy 70 bridge trestle. 105 feet to the water. It’s a long way down. You can count to 8 slowly.

Great outcome for the person who needed help!
God was there with him on that jump.

The people that saved the man are heros, the real kind, not the social media version.

The below happened over the weekend.

I've posted a news article with these same facts several times over the years. I have always required my guests to either wear or diaper a PFD when they go in the water. Some responses to my posts ridicule that choice. Just remember you're the captain, you can make the decisions about guests wearing PFDs when they go in the water, and you'll have to live with the outcome.

That's all I'm gonna say.

The body of a man was recovered Monday from Lewisville Lake, about a day after he jumped into the water and didn’t resurface.

A man was on the lake about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a rented boat with friends when he jumped in to swim, according to a statement from the Lewisville Fire Department. A man was on the lake about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a rented boat with friends when he jumped in to swim, according to a statement from the Lewisville Fire Department. He wasn’t wearing a life jacket and didn’t reemerge.

A game warden using a side-scan sonar located his body early Monday evening and the fire department’s dive team recovered it about 6 p.m., according to a statement from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The statement said the area of the lake the man jumped in was about 45 feet deep.

The victim’s identity had not been made public as of Tuesday morning, though the TPWD statement said he was 23 years old.

State game wardens are leading the investigation.
