Air Conditioner misters?

So this popped up on FB feed today.
I don’t have a traditional AC unit.
So wanted to asked the pros.
Gimmick? Makes a difference?
Or just a LOL.
The is a pic I just found not from a company offering their system.

It works great. My Motorhome wouldn’t cool down enough at the islander a few years back so I ran a mister on the condenser. It worked really good. Probably be better if you had a water softener at the house for buildup.

@Riverbound might know the truth about them. I too have looked at them. Havasu can get a little warm

We ran tests on them in Texas when I had my solar/efficiency company there. Was there an improvement? Yes, was it worth it…idk long term. Issue in havasu is water quality…. If you have a swamper you know this all too well.., you will have a calculium buildup issue on your unit which will suck to clean.

A long time ago when I had a place in Bullhead and I was told by the A/C guy to install the unit on the north side of the home and to make sure it had a shaded area for the unit. I did but don't know if it help..

Whoever built our house mounted ours in the North side of the house.
It gets a very little amount of light on it in the later afternoon.


I’ve sprayed mine down with the hose on some super hot days. It did seem to temporarily help with return temps.

Set it up to use distilled water. It should have no buildup. I know people use misters on vehicles' radiators with success.

Yes they work. Running pulsers on wetdecks is different than running water strait to coils, not recommended, no flow control and mineral buildup.

I’m sure they will help but like mentioned the water will leave build
Up which will later make it work harder as the build up will take from heat exchanging

I had a small biz in Havasu making precoolers for AC units. Back then they usally drew air from one side so we just mounted against that one side with the same master cool pad. Like a swamper for the AC. No moving parts since the ac did the air draw. They worked great.

Id never spray water on my ac like that one though

horrible idea if you want your unit to last. great idea if you want to change your unit out prematurely. especially with how bad the water is in Havasu.

It’s better to clean the coils every month or so…
That will cost you a replacement unit way ahead of schedule.

I know several houses that still have water cooled condensers for their AC units. They were normal in the 1950s but were outlawed because of the amount of water they used.

Why not have a swamp cooler blow into the condenser

The cost of water will easily outpace the savings on the unit's efficiency.

That's before you even account for the scale build up and premature corrosion of the condenser coils
