A good way to understand AI can been seen in the movie “Weird Science”. The two guys fed into their computer everything they wanted their creation to know (smart) and how to look.

What they got out (Lisa) was the sum of all the “learning”.

It’s crude but it’s the way AI is developed. Feed it extremely large data sets and then let it start making connections based on observations of others using the data, and then let it start outputting on the basis of that learning.

They aren’t. We are using them to develope our AI tech. Drones are too old school now. This F16 can dogfight. Also can be programmed and configured to mimic other migs for training. Pretty cutting edge stuff

It will continue to dehumanize the medical field.

In 5 years a physical will be going to a lab for a blood draw, automated blood pressure and pulse, then later AI will send you a report. It’s one step from that now.

We use it daily (the paid variant) , mostly for embedded firmware development but have given it a few passes at sales documentation, technical troubleshooting procedures, etc. It churns out the information faster than you can absorb and implement.

Out of boredom a few days ago my youngest son asked it to develop a new character along the lines of those done by artist Fabio Napoleoni. We have a handful of his artworks hanging in the houses. Within seconds the image below appeared.

At this point we could have selected one to tweak but passed on it. I can understand why artists and writers are so concerned, but it extends well beyond the obvious applications.

Remember when we had to learn hand written math? And calculators weren’t allowed in class?
Now kids can’t even do homework without a laptop and internet connection.

So far all my daughters advanced math classes are show your work and in old school math. She prints out the page and gets solving.

I am an ass and make her do math and English in my office so she can’t use the computer. She hand writes her English assignments then types them into the computer.

The best is when you feed it shitty and biased data 😂

Did it work?
I didn't ask...he's kind of a weird dude...metro type. I thought it was a bit creepy he brought it up. Honestly, if the guy was more masculine it wouldn't have freaked me out, but when you think those guys may be switch hitters you kinda don't want to ask in case the third party is not what you thought....

With my experiences with the medical community over the last five years I'd welcome the expanded use of AI. All my repeated complaints into the deaf ears of my primary care physicians concerning "uncomfortable" lymph nodes, weight loss, anomalous blood tests and such over a several year window - the eventual Stage 4 cancer diagnosis - would have been eliminated. As an engineer I'd welcome "dehumanization" if the result is advancement of care. ;)

They certainly are. The F-35 delays will keep the F-16 in service for another 10-20 years.

So weirdly enough you'd think that because I own a boating website I'd be more into tech than I am.. Truth be told I'm the guy screaming at my phone because I can't get the fucking blue tooth to work in my truck or portable speaker. I have always had a saying that "computers are just an expensive desk lamp to me" and that pretty much best fits the description.

Racey and others have talked in depth about AI / Chatgpt / Deep Fake both voice and video.. I never put much stock into any of it up until now. Stacy was playing around on the internet the other day and asked Chat GPT to write a description of that new Development she's got called the Sands. It's the water front lots in the other thread. She didn't put in that much information, and this thing spit this out in ten seconds.

This shit should be illegal. I had heard about kids cheating on essays and other college things with this technology.. I absolutely believe it now. I went down a rabbit hole yesterday of seeing some of the shit these things are capable of, and wow... Just wow..

I don't know how society comes back from this, because it's gonna get (if not already) impossible to differentiate tech from people. These things can fake your voice, write essays, poems songs, create music, fake a video with you in it. It is unreal, and extremely scary when you think about people using this tech for nefarious reasons.

Super concerned for my kids future.. or hell even my own?

RD
The futures here right now my friend.... genies left the bottle and our adversaries such as China, Iran, Russia & N Korea are all developing AI.... All the creators & developers of AI tech have begged our government to cease its growth and development. Thats telling. On this topic I have no solution. Its very damning.

Remember how you used to need a ton of internal memory on your phone? Now you don’t need much cause everything can be stored on the cloud then just accessed through your phone.

Maybe mental knowledge will be like that in the future, you won’t need any, in a few clicks or taps there it is, one big brain everyone shares
Thats what I see occuring already with the use of Google.... everybody I know under say 60 reaches for their cell to use Google anytime they need a definition, a word or info on a topic. Our brains and memory functions are becoming effected because we aren't using them.

I’m just glad AI hasn’t figured out how to wire up a building or put in a structural beam that doesn’t match the plan’s dimensions.

I think it might thin the heard on paper work attorneys. But trial attorneys are equally about the law and their jury.

Real estate is in the same boat. If you sell tract homes you might be in trouble. Finding value for your client in different neighborhoods and builds is still an art. Both on the buying and selling.

Computer programming might be out the window. But you still need the human mind to be creative and find the next “it” idea.

Basic sales might be screwed (cars, widgets etc). But sales that requires reading people will still remain.

AI is scary but I don’t believe it’ll take over the world.

This is just the beginning. Look on the bright side.. you won't have to scream at your phone anymore. 😂

You need to prep yourself and your kids. Life is gonna be drastically different in 10 years Dave.

Have a look at all the “girls” in the “Good Morning threads… A bunch are AI generated. 😂
Plus many of the “girls”in that thread still have college in their future after graduating High School. :)

Everyday i send Blood Pressure & Heart Beat to a service my cardiologist set up to monitor. This service provides the B/P monitor & sends info thru phone or ipad. If i skip a day the automated text shows up. Samhitha does not exist as a human.

“Good Morning Mr. Xxxxxx. This is Samhitha from ConciergeRPM reminding you to please check your blood pressure, as it has been 2 days since we last received your readings. Please make sure you are well rested and relaxed while repeating the reading. If you are experiencing any symptoms, please call me ASAP. Thank you and have a great day!”

A lender I know of, but don't use, had it develop a plan to get his wife to do a threesome... that was his way of determining if it was good at research.
Did it work?

It did work. The wife came home the next day with a big black dude ready to peg her husband. Apparently there are a few specifics you want to feed the AI before you ask for the plan.

New Mitsubishi fiber laser we installed a few months back has AI assist. There’s cameras and microphones in the machine that monitor the beam and cut quality. If it starts cutting bad it’ll look at the nozzle and change it if needed. If that doesn’t help it’ll start self adjusting the programmed cut conditions till it either cuts better or it’ll stop and alarm out to let you know something’s physically wrong. But it stores and refers back to the cutting conditions if it acts up again. The thing is always learning. I’m scared one day it’s gonna build itself some arms and legs to take me out!!!

The machine looks at the product, sees if it fits within the design parameters, and will self adjust to basically bring it closer to it's primary design? Holy crap!

As long as it keeps to user up to date with it's constant reconfiguration, that's cool as hell. With my luck, it would be tweaking itself for months because some thingamabob was wearing out. When it suddenly shit the bed would be my first notification that I should have had a spare ready 🥴

Close! It won’t change design parameters. It’ll change and adapt the cut conditions so it keeps a quality cut. It’ll self adapt to variations in material quality or if something interferes with the cutting nozzle it’ll check, clean and or replace nozzle all on its own.

Hahaha…this thing has so many apps and alerts to let you monitor its progress. It’ll definitely let you know when it’s pissed off!

It's funny, but I couldn't care less about some tech, but manufacturing equipment is different. How things are made and how much better and faster a product can be spit out compared to 5 or 10 years ago. Very cool stuff.
...but I also like seeing how things were done 100 or more years ago 🤣

So this episode is extremely interesting. At the 26 minute mark, ChatGPT explains how it would take over the world…it sounds more than plausible to me.

I have seen them fly out of Nellis along with14's, 15's and some Raptors. I do know that the national guard still fly a bunch of them.

It’s nice your understanding where all this technology is headed. To control you and your habits. You dismissed a couple months ago the thread we had on digital currency. That is coming too. Terribly frightening.

Totally agree! This thing spits out parts 4:1 on our other laser thats 6 years old. And uses less power and assist gases. Maintenance is also 50% less. I’ll post a video of it running.

Are lawyers not going to be the first ones replaced? Everyone outside of the person standing in front of the jury seems to be easily replaced by AI?

Hopefully, my position will be safe until I retire? 😳
