Hey you savvy GMC guru's need some advice:
My 2015 GMC Sierra Z71 1500 has garbage headlights. It's a known issue, naturally GM has their head in their ass, no recalls etc.
I know its 8 years old but if you guys have any suggestions for an aftermarket upgrade? ..Morimoto has had good reviews but I am clueless.
As always, thanks in advance for the advice......I'm ready for the F150 comments - haha

Get units from TYC....I'd avoid the Amazon garbage. There is a considerable difference in quality between good chinese stuff and Amazon grade chinese stuff....

Do you have halogens or the HIDs?

I’ve done some bulb upgrades to stock headlights on my ‘16 Yukon and it made a huge difference without going to some funky 3rd party headlight kit that doesn’t work any better than stock. Also the bulb upgrades are still following the factory beam pattern so no one gets the “blinded by lowbeams” that are so common with third party kit.

I drove a ‘15 Tahoe (same platform basically) last week with the stock bulbs and my god I thought the bulbs were burned out they were so dim.

HIDs suck. I have HIDs (stock) and they are fragile as hell in a truck platform and they were constantly burning out (or breaking). I went LED and haven’t looked back. And don’t go higher than 6K (color temp).

Got tired of my 2015 GMC 2500Hd headlights always burning out . I put some LED lights with the built in fan . They are way better than stock . Make sure they are compatible with what you have or you will get a message on your dash .

Do your research and get some from a website that specialists in these lights for trucks. That way the light pattern is tits, no error on your dash etc. Don't do amazon or ebay. I got some cheapo OEM replacements from Ebay on my suburban and the light pattern sucks and the plastic yellowed up in a few years. Do it right

That's what I did on my dad's honda. They were a few hundreds bucks more but 8 years later the HIDs are still running strong.

PrecisionLED.com out of LA. It’s legit for the lowbeams.

Get your high beams and fogs from Diode Dynamics and you are set with bright lights that are 1000% better than stock while maintaining factory compatibility.

I have had zero issues with this setup and the vehicle doesn’t get mad about the lights.

Put a diode between the low and high beam relay and both will come on at the same time. Make a shit ton of light.

Combine that with the fog lights staying on cable kit/adapter and you’ll look like an oncoming football stadium.

I have a 2015 GMC 1500 as well, and the lights are bad. One bulb per headlight is all there is, with a shutter that covers the top of the bulb while in low beam. GM admitted that the lights were poor. They issued a TSB attempting to address it. The TSB includes reprogramming the BCM, to send more voltage to the headlight bulbs, as well as a new bulb, that apparently has a different gas inside it, and puts out more light. This did help. Comparing the light output to my 2003 GMC, found the 2015 still lacking though, so I installed this Rough Country light bar behind the grill, and wired it to come on with the high beams (if the light bar dash mounted switch is turned on). Obviously great improvement. I also ordered some high end (priced) LED bulbs as well, but got pissed and removed them, after they went out halfway home the first night, as the helpful professionals on the phone failed to mention that I also needed to install some diodes in line as well.

Check out Carid.com for new lens’sss and check out DDM tuning for bulbs. I’m not a big fan of the projector lens so if you buy none projectors then get HID’s. They will be bright and give you plenty of light.

I use the projection type headlights in both of my trucks. Very bright.
