Sounds like an Essex, solid engine/drive package. Regardless of what previous owner says or shows you about recent services done, have it done yourself that way you know you are starting off at square 1

The OP will like the Dual Prop's fuel economy and the fact there is very little prop slip.

I'm at 912 hrs last I looked. I have a 7.4 LXI but the drives are the same. Just had Cutting Edge rebuild both props and add some cup for $360 I think, fully polished.

I run the 28's and I think my gear ratio is 2.1 in the lower.

had that setup in a 27' cruiser...flawless.... that is very low hours, as long as it's been serviced it should be fine.

This is a fucking Unicorn of a herd of Unicorns…
Been 100% stored indoors, and owned by elderly couple the entire time.

They had no clue it could break 40… none…

run it through service and enjoy it...that is a great engine package. I also owned a 25 with the 350 MPI and a duo prop...would do that again as well.

This might be my 18th boat, Literally lost track.
Love 496HO
Love Twin Yammy 250s, 150s, 115, Nothing but love… Had 200s HPDI great for their time but,,, 4 strokes rock. Owned Hondas, Johnsons, Evenrudes, Tohatsus… BTW… Tohatsu is a hidden Gem!… As long as you can get spare parts.

THOUSANDS OF HOURS… When I see RDP dudes own boat for 10 years with 300 hrs… I LAUGH…

Sold the twin 250s with 2900 hrs… When I say I put hours on a boat, I aint fucking around yes most was off shore, but they are serious hours.

Those days are behind me. When I say I caught a ton a fish a day… LITERALLY 2000 lbs per day… not commercial, just dudes pooling $$$ together to put fuel in the boat, bait in the tank and food in the chest. Leave Friday and get back Sunday for many years.

Now I am in relax mode..

In cars.. Fuck yeah.. 6.2/383 rocks… stroke that bitch.. Never owned a 6.2 boat.. Yes I have a very robust boat owner ship background. Which is why I am reaching out to the brotherhood.

I assume I am good to go.. but most people have no clue that the 2006 Yamaha. 225 & 250hp 4 stroke outboards have a major issue with exhaust corrosion. Unless that was fixed during the warranty periord, then your fucked, cause those fuckers rot the block and are worthless. Which is why I am seeking advice, from dudes who have been there and did that

Had the same Volvo in my 22’ Larson and it ran right up to 65. Really was a fun boat but didn’t do great on busy weekends. Never could figure out what pitch the F-6 translated into.

We've had this set up in a 26' cabin cruiser and put 900 zero-issue hours on it.
