Any ADT people one here? new home already has a full system... but need to get it all activated and make sure it's workibg correctly.

anyone that has service with them... is it a base monthly amount, or do they charge more for the # of sensors that you have? I do know they charge a little extra for the fire monitoring.

I have ADT at both my Havasu and Yorba Linda houses. I pay about $45 a month for each house. Not sure on the fire monitoring or not. But I do have them.

I have ADT at my primary home. Got a deal through a dealer for all points of entry and my motions and smokes etc hardwired for 500 clams. Once the contract was up I called ADT and said I was switching. I now only pay 21 a month to monitor everything.

I'm an ADT dealer. Activation per ADT is $99.00 but a lot of dealers will waive or reimburse the activation charge especially on an existing system. As for the monitoring, It starts at $27.99 for fire and security monitoring w/o warranty. $33.99 will get you fire and security plus warranty for as long as you're with ADT. Things that can raise your monitoring would be Cellular backup, two way voice, event logging, etc. If you already have fire points it won't change your monthly at all.
ADT has a 3 year agreement for all residential systems.
Let me know if you have any questions! :thumbsup
And obviously if you're in AZ call me and we'll set you up! 928-775-3376:thumbsup

That's why you go local companies when you can. Especially in places like Havasu. I have Western Alarm out there. They are local and on top of anything if I call. They monitor by radio and it only costs me 12 bucks a month for it. Stupid cheap and it works great.

When did the 3 year deal start. I started my contract little over a year ago and it is 2 years.

I am in the LA area and found that calling around to the different dealers made a big difference on what they will install for free. I ended up getting like 9 wireless contacts for the 99 dollar install and pay 33 a month.

The remote fell off of the garage door opener and was smashed. ADT would only come out on a Tues or Thurs from I think Phoenix. I live in SoCal. Last time I took a day off to meet them they called and said they had to cancel. I was already in town. They finally sent a tech that was over 3 hours away. So I sat all day. Now I have a renter in my house who can be there. And I can't get anyone to call me back. :swear

We went with ADT because we ran it thru my wifes company in SoCal. Now I want to change and I think it may cost to much to change to Western Alarm.

More than likely your dealer is holding your account in house and having ADT monitor it. ADT corporate has a two year deal but not for $99. Your dealer must have been very eager for business and gambling on you staying with them more than two years cuz that is a VERY skinny deal...
Sweet deal though! :champagne:

I probably using the wrong words. Its a 2 part device that is double side taped to the garage door opener. 1 piece is on the traveler and the other piece (magnet) is on the fixed part of the opener. When the door opens it breaks contact with the magnet. Alarm sounds. This piece fell off and was smashed.

Edit...Its wireless..

Give them a call and talk turkey. We did ours over 5 years ago so I don't know prices now. We did have to buy all the equipment but it has paid for itself only having to pay 12 bucks a month over the years. They haven't raised prices and the only cost I have incurred has been to upgrade to the new digital radio but they did that at cost to get everyone on it with the FCC requirement. They even came out last year to train my stupid SnowBird how to use the alarm (end result anyway) and didn't charge me.

Mine was only 2 years as well. At least I think so. I stayed but got them to lower the price to the bare minimum with no warranties.

Oh ok! That makes sense. Yes that's an easy enough fix, though it sounds like you'll need to buy a new transmitter. You may be able to get ADT to warranty the transmitter but as you pointed out it's not the easiest to get them out to havasu.
The transmitter is $65 and I charge $75/hr plus trip if you want me to come out. You may want to see if Western Alarm uses the same equipment. If they do they can come out and program a new transmitter for you for much less I'm sure.
Just a thought...

I tried having someone else fix it. ADT said that if they messed up imputing some type of codes I would be liable. I will try calling ADT again soon. My snowbird doesn't use the alarm. But he is there all the time. I just need it fixed by the time I come back for Desert Storm the end of April. I am very happy with ADT at my home in SoCal. :D

Not to sound disloyal but changing programming codes on most panels is very simple. Another company adding a transmitter should be a non event. At any rate good luck with it! I'll let you know if I make it out there before Desert Storm.

I figured the codes wasn't that hard. I will just let them drive all the way to Havasu. :D Thanks for the help. :thumbsup

Late Response, but I'm in the riverside area. The house is already all set up with sensors etc, and there is also a detached garage that also has sensors. I pretty much just need someone w/ ADT to come out and make sure everything is working.... and get it all activated without getting ripped off :p maybe add a motion sensor or so.

Be sure to add a "cancel for performance" clause with no balance of contract so if you're not happy with the product or service you can cancel with no obligation. This should hold true for any alarm service provider.

The challenge with ADT is that many of the systems are proprietary which means no one else can work on them or monitor them. As long as you're protected with some kind of a performance guarantee you should be OK.

Cancel for performance can/should include:
No more than 2 days for service to be dispatched and problem repaired
False alarms caused by equipment to be paid by provider
Alarms dispatched within 2 minutes of receipt of signal
There are probably a couple more that others can provide.
