Since we are on the subject of healthcare, I need an ankle replacement surgery. It’s about $150,000 in the US. I can get that same surgery with a higher level of care for about $15,000 in Thailand.

When things Go "Wrong" out of the Country, the "Price" is not in the conversation any longer. I know several people with "Nightmare" Stories on "Dental Implants" Gone Wrong in Mexico.

BUT!! They were so Cheap.;)

There are 30 million US citizens without health insurance and a whole bunch more that cannot afford their co-insurance and deductibles.

Free healthcare in Canada would certainly be a selling point to many Americans to take it on as a 51st state.

I’d bet many US voters would consider moving to the new 51st state where healthcare is free. 🤷‍♂️

My Canadian neighbor that left Canada begs to differ. His wife was extremely ill only to receive waiting times and no diagnosis in canadia. When they moved here and she visited a doctor she ended up with a diagnosis and got medical treatment. She is doing much better.

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm only relaying the message from a Canadian refugee ...

If you think it's that good you should move to Canada yourself

150k. Is an ankle worse than a knee replacement. My cousin just got his invoice from the insurance company. 25k. He paid about 3k.

Knee replacement is worse than hip replacement, but, ankle is more complex and fragile. 150k is stil highway robbery.

I’m sure healthcare in Canada is horrible as it is government run. Government screws everything up, regardless of who is running the government.

I’m simply pointing out 30 million in America have less healthcare than do Canadians and so even shitty might be better to those specific Americans than the none they have now.

Further, if Canada became the 51st state, that healthcare system would now be an integral part of the US healthcare system as it would be administered in the 51st state covering 40 million new Americans. Our healthcare system can’t cover what we have now, it cannot handle another 40 million.

Point being that appears to be lost, it’s easy to say America is going to take over Canada, Greenland and Panama. It’s even easy to invade them, blow shit up and subject them to American authority.

But Implementing and executing the integration is a motherfucker.

Fortunately, as many in here have pointed out, this is just more bloviation by the incoming President.

Canada says they’ll take Washington, Oregon, and California, and those Governor’s are considering the offer. 😂

Wife worked at the 3rd most successful hospital in the world.
They never, ever turn anyone away regardless of their health problem, affliction or condition or ability to pay.

All the other hospitals on the list never turn anyone away either. Patrion's and Kick starts for those afflicted, if ya read the fine print, is usually to cover anything but the healthcare. Things like a parent getting unpaid time off from work or the like.

Socialized healthcare = Ya get sick, ya die.
Like going to the DMV.

In all sincerity, not taking a shot at you, do you own a business that's hit a ceiling in profits, and you can benefit if the government picks up the cost of your employee's benefits?

Panama ran up the cost to use the canal and strong talk it's going into politicians' pockets.

Common sense asks why anyone would support Dumbala and Briben. At the least, the best looser won.

I love Trump. But . . . his rhetoric is already getting out of hand, just like last term.
He needs to talk less and think his communications thru before putting shit out there.
Are you really gonna come out before your even in office and just say your renaming the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America? Lol
And I don't think any of us want to be closer to Canadians 😂

My family has Canadian family that have become US citizens and moved to Idaho just because of health care. Their daughter has health issues and they have been struggling with the Canadian system for 10 plus years. In the first 3 months here in the US, her health has improved immensely due directly to the level of care she is receiving and is living a normal life now.

I'm curious if a deal is made with canada does that mean that traveling to canada from the US will be easier. As far as past legal issues

Article IV, section 2, clause 1…….Privileges and Immunity Clause.

“The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.”

Canada as the 51st state would have to be no different than any other state with respect to travel.

However in order for Canada to become a state it takes a process where Canada must apply, submit a state constitution for approval and then obtain the approval of congress…

It isn’t happening. Getting a majority of Canadian citizens to approve a state Constitution to join the Union, coupled with obtaining 60 votes in the US Senate to approve is a serious bong hit.

You guys are off your rockers, to think that the majority of Canadians would want Canada to be a satellite of the US. I'm sure we would be better of economicaly, but I know the mindset of the people, it would be difficult for them to accept to be the 51st state. I know lot of business minded people who would embrace this coalition. IMO, Trump is just trolling the world, albeit he's got the point. Trudeau and his dad Pierre effed up our country but, change is coming for the better with a new conservative leader, this year , I hope. Don't get me wrong, I love the US and what it stands for.
Just one interesting fact to point out> As of July 1, 2024, the male to female ratio in Canada was 99.9 men per 100 women.
See, there are more women than men here, and we know how that works when it comes to political decisions. The majority of women I came across the last 30-50 decades shows , they became too liberal in Canada. Throw in the male pussies doesn't help either. BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan are conservatives, but the further you go East, liberals and strong unions are a major road blocks tipping the scales. We're subjects and part of the Commonwealth, good luck breaking up that bond.
The modern Commonwealth is a values-based association of 56 countries, most with historic links to the United Kingdom and home to 2.7 billion people over five continents.
The current Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland, is the sixth Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, chosen in 2015, and is the first womanto hold the post

I miss Tom Brown to give his 0,002 cents worth into this convo;):D
