I will be short handed next week when the trusses come so I put an add on cl
And got a bunch of responses

I replied with the following;

What do you need to do to the walls before you roll the trusses and how do you do it ?
Where the gable end fascia meets the fascia running down the length of the building a cut will have to be made on the gable fascia to make it look right- what is the name of this cut?
The fascia corners have a compound miter cut on them -the roof is*a 6:12
What is the angle and bevel of the cut?

The answers I'm getting are funny
Ever hire off of Craig's list?

Nope, but I can only imagine. I've stacked a number of roofs in my day. There are some dumb asses out there.

Please share some answers.

I can frame like a mofo, but I'll be damned if I could answer your questions about it. $45.00 an hour cash and I might put my bags on for a few weeks.

These questions are great at contractors school... but if you ask 5 different guys from 5 different areas, you would most likely get 5 different answers. Just have them phone interview and if they sound like the have a brain, have them show up and see what they can do. At my old job we would call them in for an interview and then walk with them to the parking lot and see what tools, if any, they had with them. Any framer, who is looking for work, worth his weight will have all his shit with hit ready to pound nails... Small bit of advise i got from the guy that showed me everything and has been in business for over 40 years and still swinging a hammer today at 70 years old...:thumbsup

Thanks Coach!!!:D

P&L,(plumb and line) with an 8' level or better, bracing the wall up using 2x4's from top to bottom plate. I do not know the name of the cut but know what you are needing done. Measure the width of the fascia you are using, then measure down the long point of the bevel the same distance(generally 5 3/8 to 5 5/8), square off the bottom point and cut. Last, you would make a 45 degree bevel at a 26 degree plumb cut to get a 6/12 pitch to meet up to the level fascia. Have tools and

This guy will get the call pretty close to the mark
and on a Saturday night no less

Yes they do. They've been nailing the spreads the last couple weeks.

Rifle is just about the same as a hundred years ago I imagine. (Bummer #3)
Weather has been great, and the rig is down off the mountain and only a few minutes from town so that's cool.

great Idea...
I did the same thing a few years back..while trying to hire a Roofing tile foreman.
I drafted up 20 questions, from four manufacture specifications and then gave them the books to review to complete these questions.

TOO MANY DUMB ASS FOLKS OUT THERE.

BTW...out of 10 people...I did not find any foreman material. I did hire a few starting roofers, but no one to fill the high dollar position.

but everyone one of them told me they had 5-10 years experiance....doing WHAT WTF knows????

Good Luck

Gable end fascia? Lol... I think you mean a barge rafter.

Is the fascia plumb cut or square? Regardless the name of the cut would be the pitch cut.. Any Mexican with a speed square will have your answers for you... Lol.

Planchard?

I've been doing this for a long time and have never heard that, and I can't even find evidence that it is a real word. We are talking about the little level clip cut at the bottom of the barge where it meets the eave, correct?

A harder fascia question would be square cut fascia miter/bevel at the corner of a hip roof.

**Edit, Found it........ Plancher cut, pronounced [Plan-ser]

Back in the day, more than once I just drove up to a jobsite, slung my bags over my shoulder and walked up to the lead and asked "Do you need a carpenter"?
