I am also a premier member. I was going to use the battery service last weekend after remembering what DaytonaBabe said about it. $30 off or something like that thanks to the membership. They still wanted $149.99 plus tax for the battery in my truck. I just went and bought the best model that Walmart had with 3 years replacement and 2 years prorated after on rollback for $93. The website was just to vague on what the cost was and how long it would take.

However, I did use them last weekend while in Phoenix after I saw a Jeep I wanted to purchase. Purchased it on the spot and called AAA and had them take it to Yuma. Since I was alone it worked out great. Saved me many hours on a reverse trip and asking the wife or someone else for help.

We've had battery failures in really bad situations and AAA showed up and saved the day.
The AAA battery is really good and has a long warranty. 2 AM USC hospital , 5AM Sunday Newport back bay all kinds of fuck stories.

I am assuming correctly (??) the premier membership you referred to is the AAA plan??? Kinda of part of the frustration with AAA, does not seem to be across the board on wether they will tow a trailer with a boat on it or not. I had never had to use my premier plan until this last May and when my buddy lost a bearing on his trailer (literally on the other side of the bridge n/b to LHC from Parker) AAA would transfer us to the AZ AAA to see if they could send someone, after we unloaded the trailer!!!! LOL!!!

Going to look into the GSC and the additional coverage on BoatUSA plan,

When I get off the island I'll go into AAA in person and ask.

The premier web page explaining bennies keeps directing me to the airline booking site.

I have AAA and have used them a fare amount over the years. Twice on the way home from Pomona. Enclosed trailer got a flat and they came no problem. On my way to a car show in the bus last year, the gear vendor broke the sprag and no more forward motion. They towed it home no problem. Just avoiding the dmv is worth the price of admission. 20 some year member and probably has 4 tows a year and never an issue. And they are very reasonable on the insurance part also.

Somewhat confusing, but AAA insurance is its own insurance plan. We have AZ-AAA which covers all our cars. I think I pay $200/month for 5 vehicles full coverage on all. Jeep, Samurai, Dodge truck, Pathfinder, Honda. On top of this you must have a AAA membership. This is where the Premier plan comes in. For myself and the wife its $200/year. Its based off the plan and the amount of people and I believe there are cheaper options and you can add motorcyle/rv which is funny since they wont insure my motorcycles. Since we are constantly driving to Phoenix, San Diego, Havasu, ect I wanted the towing to get me home and that plan is up to 200 miles. When I bought the Jeep the other weekend I called AAA and they said I was 189 miles away so I said lets do it. Growing up in San Diego I remember seeing people break down on the grade and watching them get towed all the way home, I just thought that cost must be insane. I wanted that to be painless for me and especially the wife if she was alone.

We don't have a plan to tow the trailers. The river is so close that it would be like having that plan when living in Havasu. I will figure out a way to get my trailer home if I have a local issue.

I have aaa Premier rv, and have had to use them twice to pull truck a trailer. One time we were slightly south of Fresno and it was going to be over 200, gave the drive a nice tip and he put 197 miles. Aaa covered the whole thing no questions, truck and boat.
Next time I was smack in the middle of 177 and the towed truck and double seadoo trailer into Blythe. Both times no hassle...
Sucks to read all these crappy stories about aaa, for me the first tow was going to $1400, so as far as I'm consigned that has paid for my membership for 10 years.

Not sure if this helps or not, but I have been a premier AAA for 24 years and had never needed a tow while outside of California, so when my buddy's trailer bearing flamed out just inside the AZ boarder, I just assumed it would be no big deal (I had no idea that my AAA would not work in another state!!!). I rarely use my AAA service, although I agree that DMV service is awesome but did me very little good while I was sweatin my nut sack off helping my buddy tie up his wounded axle. I think I am going to try the GCG and see if it is any better service than AAA.

We also have a California AAA policy, and recently needed to have my truck towed while in Havasu. There was no problem at all. There was a number on the back of my AAA card for outside of California. Why put the number there if you can't use it? So what happened with you? They just refused to tow you?

They refused to respond unless we took the boat off the trailer, said we had to call AZ AAA (offered to transfer the phone call for us). Arizona AAA said the same thing. We laced it up and drug it back to LHC on three wheels.:grumble::grumble::grumble:

Until we can get a place out there, we have to drag across the desert so I need some kind of insurance. The comments on GSC sound positive.
