So we are watching our Mitsubishi DLP, and in the middle of a program we hear what sounds like a bulb "popping" and our screen goes blank. A couple of seconds later we hear what sounds like an electrical "frying" sound but without any smell, smoke or anything. We turn it on again for shits and giggles, and the screen is still black, it it makes the electronic "frying" noise for about 2-3 seconds and stops. The red light is on instead of the green light.....any ideas?

Ok, I found my manual after searching evrerywhere, and it seems that the main bulb has burnt out because the lamp status light is a steady red. Anybody got a hook up for Mitsubishi bulb 915P061010?

Online from Amazon it is about $170 bucks but needs to be shipped, and Frys wants $249 for the thing! I live in Murrieta but work in Anaheim, so any help would be appreciated!

Lot's of them on Ebay. I bought one for our RCA DLP from Ebay with NO problems at all. There are many less than $100.00. Just find a well liked(feedback) seller.

I'm in the same boat and the same bulb. I'm going to try nextdaydlp, they give you some options and prices range from $104 to $150. I tried posting the link but couldn't get it to work.

I'm happened to be one of the ones who got a Mitsu lemon. after 2 light engines and 4 bulbs ........................it went by-by. It did have a great picture when it was working.

Good luck with yours.

My Mitsu is almost right at 4 years, and it has been flawless. I had heard that the bulbs go out every couple of years, and feel that after 4 years I have probably gotten my money's worth out of the factory bulb. Besides, a hundy or two is much more affordable than another $3k for a new tv.

I had many issues with capacitors popping( they knew of the problem but didn't fix it) and the power supply but no light engine trouble. Mine's an 04(62' Diamond series). in 07 they came and picked up the whole Fn chassis and updated everything to 07 specs. If i remember correctly Mits picked up everything but $200. This was after over a year of fighting with them. Since then no issues until 2 months ago with the bulb. I will not be buying another Mitsubishi when i get a new tv.

I was very happy with mine up-until the second light engine.

Great pic 52" on HD stuff it looked like 3-D and watching sports on it was great. I just happened to get a lemon. Mitsu cheaped out on some parts that caused a problem with them.

Agree 100% on the picture quality, looks awesome. It's just when you spend 4-5k (at the time) on a tv and they know there is problems with certain parts and they don't fix it but choose to pass the issues on to the consumer, then fight you the whole way to fix it(even with an extended warranty). I haven't had to deal with other companies warranty but I do not think very high of Mitsubishi.

TT,

Didn't your lamp light start blinking (might stay solid) yellow or orange to warn you your lamp was going to go out soon??

It's also fairly important to keep the external filter clean ( I assume yours has one) especially if the tv is in a confined spot. They run fairly warm and this will also shorten the lamp and other parts life span.

My Mits DLP did the same thing last year. I ordered a bulb, generic, from some place out of san diego and it did not work. They refunded me my money and I just ordered one from Mitsubishi. Phone number is in the manual. A little pricey, but worked.

Well I picked up a bulb from the MWave place, and they have a 150 day return policy. When I get home I will put it in and see what happens.

There was no real warning that the bulb was on its way out last night. Now I will say that probably a dozen or so times in the past, someone would accidently turn the tv off (usually kids fiddling endlessly with the remote) and the red light would blink for a while, then the set would finally turn off after a short amount of time. You could then turn it right back on.
There has been an occasion or two where it didn't, but that was after it had been on for a long time, and you tried to turn it right back on.

I never got any yellow or orange lights, and the tv is not in a confined space. I checked the filter for the heck of it, and it was pretty clean. The board going out kind of scares me as the tv made some "electrical frying" noises about 5 seconds after the screen went blank.

So hear is a different question, my tv gets signal through the cable box, and when my screen went blank, the volume died as well. Does this sound normal?

I never lost sound when it was just my lamp.

Excellent! Well, I have a new lamp so I can try that and see what happens. If that does not fix it I guess I am onto the service guy.

What was that guys number that would come down to Murrieta?

To everybody that responded, thanks, and for the MWave hook-up, thanks again. I blew out all of the vents in the back of the TV, replaced the bulb, and viola! $89.62 and 10 minutes of my time and we are back to watching the rest of Battle Field LA.

Thanks!

good luck...mitsu has gone to hell in my opinion...my pops just went thew the 3 ring circus...bulb went out..no biggie..2nd time they take t.v. for 2 months and say it's all good..2 months really.. sooo 8 months later t.v. is out again and service rep says to bad so sad waranty is up go pound sand..so after a little email campaign to the higher up's they replace his 62 with a 65 and he's hoping for the best...they used to put out a great product...but now....:skull

:thumbsup. glad it all worked out.

I also have a guy come out about 12-18 months and do a basic cleaning on the mirrors, helps keep some of the artifacts away, like little white breal up in the blacks is where i notice it most. (about $75 if i remember right.)
