my thoughts on this is that we have lost the ability to be civil. so lets say you don't like the color of a certain boat and say so. I really don't have a problem with that as that's your OPINION but its like world war 3 nowadays instead of just politely pointing out how maybe you would have preferred a different color..

I agree with RD that people post way too much negative stuff "just because".

i don't know what the answer is....get a life i guess.

You are not wrong. But those that can’t just sit on their thumbs, make posting content, unimportant to those that feel the wrath of the few.

It’s not that feelings get hurt, it’s not that at all. It’s simply if you’ve worked hard enough, long enough to accumulate a few things, going to the effort to post about it simply isn’t worth your time, if you’ve opened yourself up to a stupid comment by a jealous liberal.

Far easier to just read content that others post.

But the content "you" post is what the others get to read. If you are willing to read others content and experience but not willing to share. And this is just me thinking outloud. As you enjoy reading others content, we enjoy reading yours in the same aspect! It goes to the saying "you reap what you sow", in life and here as well. There are always going to be shit talkers and naysayers anywhere and everywhere you go. But here on RDP the ones willing to read and enjoy your content will far outweigh the negative!! Jmo

I have had a "boating content" thread I made a couple years ago and add to it every year. And will continue that again this year(weather is getting close). Some people talk shit but I know the majority enjoy it so the good outweighs the bad imo.

I know there are a ton of people on here waiting for more pictures, vids and adventures on the absolutely finaminal boat you built, and the great times with your family(your boy especially).

Life is what it is.. fuk the haters, let the jealousy furl you to post more of your trips and adventures. This is my opinion for everyone!

For those that ARE NOT posting boating shit because this is how you feel.. step back a minute and rethink it please. Because there are FAR MORE people that will enjoy it than not!!

Sorry for the rant but it's the truth..

Why not just not post an opinion at all? There’s no point severed by telling somebody their dream doesn’t fit your criteria?

That is exactly why there’s less content.

Stick your neck out...for what purpose?

to your point. My family and I still do all the same stuff, enjoy all the same things.

By me not posting it, “does a tree falling in the woods make a sound if there’s nobody there to hear it”

I do however get your point. Is it fair to only consume content, not share content.

I share whatever content I can regardless of what it is. I sometimes feel like it is a bit boring and maybe mundane, But thats me and I'll post it in hopes that at least a couple people will get a kick out it. shoot. I just did a transmission replacement and a bow thruster install on 40ft Regal and launched it/took it home in 25mph sustained winds. that was a fun project! NOT. but to me its nice knowing that I can still do it all while now being an independant.

FYI. A bow thruster is useless in 25 mph winds! it took me 20minutes of playing with the sticks to just get the damn thing off the dock! not my brightest decision to choose that day to launch but sometimes you do what you gotta do!

Because we know that this is inevitable, there are always negative people everywhere. Delt with it for years in the sanddrag world.

And 90% of the people that frequent this forum would love to, vicariously, go on those trips with you!! The other 10%, well, they can get f&$k/d.

Anyone one on RDP that would enjoy the content from members like @nganga and @C-Ya amongst others, hit the like button and let see where this goes!

idk about you guys but I really really wish
@nganga would update pics of that dang boat he has! That was like the highlight of this website when it was being built!! Can we get an update?
Drive review?
Rdp feature?
@RiverDave
@nganga
In all reality, there’s nothing to update. I picked it up from Barrett November -~20th and been so busy with a remodel here at home, haven’t put it in the water.

We’re bring our Motorhome over on the 1st at the Islander for the summer and will be there with the boat around April 12th through about the 21st

And I'm with you wondering why that has not been a "feature boat" yet? That thing should have been captured as a "feature" as soon as it hit Havasu!! It honestly would be a great hit with parents with kids with disabilities that YOU CAN enjoy what you love with ALL of your family on board and maybe even "being the captain"! That alone is SUPER COOL in my opinion!

Dave, i think one sentence was about me. Lol
Dont take this the wrong way because i agree with you on all of it but...
You live in havasu and this is your job. Outside of havasu and in 99% of members work place the 'vibe' is not what it was roughly 4-5 years back
The negativity on here is the same as my construction sites. The same as my neighborhood. Socal, western states, where we come from has pushed people to this state of mind.
Unfortunately RDP is a outlet for it. Human nature.
You should make changes, it wont be easy.
The world we live in is not as happy. Its a choice, but its also very tough to escape the bullshit

I dont get that shit at all.. if you are not happy with your life, change it! If you are jealous of others and what they have or done, change your life and make it happen! I am actually doing this right now!

Will I ever be on your level nganga(just an example) or many others, nope(maybe someday)! But you make life what you want it. And it makes me push myself to get to that next level.

The "Green Eyes" they look through is of their own issues.. imo

My dad alway used to say, "hang out in a crowd where you are the successful smart one and that's where you will stay! Hang out with people smarter and more successful than you and you will find your way!" Not sure if it's TRUE but it seems to pan out.

You can't soar with the Eagles if you're hanging out with the Turkeys.

That's how I heard it anyway...

The time has come to get positive minded no matter who you are or what you do.... practice a little bit everyday and watch how fast everybody here gets back on their Game. If everyone tries a little harder to be a better human to one another the sooner were having a good time again!! Try it and see....it works.
Wake up in the morning, take a piss and tell yourself....."Im going positive today....Im going positive today". Do it everyday.

We just went through a 2 year pandemic, now a full blown war in Ukraine, inflation is slapping us around a little, etc, etc, and on the back end of all that crap is some stress and anxiety. Some people can handle it...some people not so much but I don't believe anyone truly comes here to RDP to cause a fight or intentionally piss somebody off.
Things can get squirlly sometimes....so what... Stay Positive! If everybody tries to show some respect, you'll get some respect given right back you!

If your reading all this...you're at the right place. Otherwise you wouldn't be here at RDP.

Now, time for a shot of Whisky.....
Turn it up

I did read it all. You did not get here based on your editorial skills. You won't survive on your editorial skills either.

Thats the reality Dave so why even bring it up? Its a passive aggressive stab at all of us

Just about in one form or another. Sometimes its the same boat all week long or several weeks. other times its a different boat every day but nothing more than basic service. Also, some of my customers are camera shy about their toys and don't like them photographed. But I will consider it.🙂

Great message and insight Dave.. the discussion of negativity is hard to pinpoint. I've been on here since '09.. Don't post alot due to a group of Keyboard Cowboys that are just that. Experts at everything except positive human interaction.

I personally love the forum and think that the best thing we could do is what our society now does... peer pressure the hell out them. Tell them straight up, STFU or leave.. you said it yourself years ago..

Be nice or leave.

We all need to do this.

Now

I'm pretty sure this is a global social media issue, Dave. We just happened to be sucked into it here also, even as "old school" social media that we are. How do we rid the world of all this negative, toxic energy? We could probably write a whole thesis on it. Something I read recently a while back researching why people always seem to be negative when hidden from plain view: "They are motivated by status. Attracting attention, hurting or upsetting people, even getting online support from other trolls gives them a sense of self-worth and importance that is likely to be lacking in their day to day, offline lives. They are insecure, and even scared"

When I used to own a restaurant, my staff would sometimes get really depressed when a table treated them like shit. I said, "Kill em with Kindness., they probably saved 6 months to have this meal, and they are talked down to in their lives every minute of the day. When they finally go out and have someone waiting on them hand and foot, they feel the need to lash out. Take it with a grain of salt. " Easier said then done though, right?

I gotta say, the people with the baddest ass toys and most exotic shit on here that I have met in real life, they are exactly like their online personas. Kind, Friendly, Caring. They have no need to belittle or post toxicity, because they are confident and secure in their "Real Lives".

Just my take on it. and yes, I still hate Riverwhips. 😂

This is a great thread. I started another thread asking for content for me to post up.

Could someone post a pic of nganga’s boat…… I want to see too!

I do enjoy this site. I left for many years, but I am glad to have this as part of my day.

I honestly did not know that you guys liked my boating posts. I have always held back because of the reasons already discussed in this thread. I am going to give it a try and see what happens.

This is just how the new generation is. We have to create this as a safe space with no negativity. As they say, if people are going to be mean, then I just won't come and post any more. It's not just RDP, its everywhere. That is just how the world is now.

Well that’s one way of looking at it. The other is, I never intended this place to solve the world’s problems. It is a good time place.. some place to get away from work when I was stuck in Carlsbad and wishing I was at the river.

Dave, you’ve created this negative environment by letting the same bunch of idiots run around unchecked for years. You know who they are. The same guys that never post any positive content, or content related to the site. The same ones who post negative threads with links and memes, who do nothing but look for content to argue about. Why are they even here? You want to change the vibe of this place, get rid of the sections where the negativity festers and the trolls feel a safe harbor. Just my opinion.

Some of the things you said needed to be said again, for the 100th time. The negativity here sucks, every thread turns into an argument. The saying “if you have nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything at all” is non existent here.
Dave didn't create it. Being tolerate shouldn't be confused with creating the environment. I seldom post , but people need to be more respective of others and think of the flipside before they make a comment. Put yourself in the other persons shoes before making the statement that you
think is the right one. Just pause and say " Is this right ?" Morals and values should prevail. If you're not sure, don't say it.

I found this site finding info on an accident out in Topock. This place had more info about it than any news source, which really helped when you can't get a hold of a family member that's in that area with a matching type of boat:confused:

People here can step up, and do amazing things. People here that didn't know me from Adam, have offered help or helped me out in some way. In the current society, that's pretty cool.

The few here that post negatively about others boats or choices, I feel may just have a bit of envy. Like a 2nd grade girl beating up a boy...because she likes him.

I try to leave my negativity in the dungeon. Lately, it may creep out from time to time, but it's not intended to crap on other peoples' things...if I did, I apologize. This is my escape, and all you social rejects are the ones I communicate with the most during the course of the day.

C-ya nailed it.

There’s plenty of guys on here that are willing to take cheap shots at others successes.

Makes you hesitate before hitting the post button.

Just saying to ignore it, doesn’t change shit. Sharing content or experiences shouldn’t subject you to criticism, just for that sake of criticism.

Not posting takes zero effort

And there it is..

Since we are all blowing each other’s skirts up. Flyingbowtie/ yourself / and a hand full of others.. if I could bottle that shit I’d be a millionaire many times over.

You are among the best we have.. keep on keeping on.

Sincerely RD (+18 CL’s)

I just don't understand putting someone down (besides good nature shit guys give to each other). I was and am someone that wants to build someone up.

Small example: I run a volleyball group here. There is another guy here that just wants to put players down and point out their errors. He does it jokingly and does get some laughs, however I think it hurts some players. This one guy was doing the same thing with his wife, He would always put her down and critique her plays. She had no confidence, so I started pointing out the good plays. Building her up (no she isn't hot). Showed her, her strong points and stuff to work on. That was 2 years ago and now she is one of the best plays. Passed me by, which is great. Her dumb husband tried to take the credit, but who cares.

Point being lift people up.
