Calm before the storm - I really like these 2 shots

This shot was taken as Blazen went *Bang*. They'd spent the night putting the motor back together including bringing parts from interstate but it wasn't to be their day. Not often you see other teams in the start area checking out another boat like that though...

Few I had lying about. Clearly not as good a photographer as OzDude though...

They're mostly NGR boats (noel griffin racing), Blazen, Burnin, then the two boats before that, wildfire and special edition.

Don't sell yourself short dude - I don't have any pics of Blazen as a freshly pained hull and that pic of Wildfire is a ripper!! Play with the contrast a little on that shot to bring the boat up and it's poster material for sure!

You need to ask Noel if you can take a couple of shots of Blazen on the trailer when it's not race day. If you were to get a shot down the nose of that boat at the right angle it would look tops! (That's the only word I can think of to describe it :thumbsup).

Also, another pic I took a couple of years back of Hellbent that is one of my favourites would also make a good shot to take of Blazen:

Oh, here's a little play I was haveing with Hellbent. The colors in the Murray were quite brown so I thought I'd just put Hellbent in it's "natural environment"

You ought to see Greg Houston's new ride. Holds 450L (119 gallons) of fuel, same for ballast. Total weight in race trim approaching 2tons, ran 114MPH w/his son attached. He said the engine was dyno'd at 1600HP. It's on it's way to Belguim now. I believe Hoggins has the same set-up in his AU boat also. Greg w/be sending me the pix.

I have seen a lot of pics of it already...yes it is the same ride and both of Howard Hoggins' boats...sick ride that for sure.

Depends on the boat, the skiers and the race. Top boats are running into the 120s with 2 skiers behind a boat. races go between about 70Ks to 100Ks. Lots of pics of those boats on here with the skiers behind them.

sorry for the questions, i am new here but if one of the skiers falls can they keep going or do they have to pick the skier back up? what is the reason for two skiers? those are some very nice boat btw.

One goes down and they have to turn around and pick them up. Don't really know the reason other than thats how a majority of the races in Oz are. They do have some one up races but most are double up.

Randall - race lengths include:

- Southern 80 (80km/50mi)
- Mildura 100 (100km/60mi)
- Sydney B2B (112km/70mi)
- Hawkesbury 120 (120km/75mi)

As for 2 skiers, we've always run with 2 skiers. It's only been more recently that we've added the new Sydney Bridge 1-Up race as an adjunct to the Power Boat Race (cause numbers dropped off so much in the Power Boat and it helps pay the costs), and some series races run 1-Up. Gees, if you're gonna spend all that time hangin on, ya need a mate to chat with!

I saw Greg's new boat in it's first outing at Wisemans Series Races before it went in the container for Belgium. Man it's a monster compared to the Connelly! When you stand back about 10ft behind it and squat down to sight the gunwal line, there's bugger all of that TT Big Block sticking up. I reckon the skiers are gonna need a ladder to get down off the deck at the start line!

Interestingly enough though I heard a rumour the other day that Mark Cranny (Team Hell) has ordered a new 21' Superclass Hull as he can't generate the speed he wants out of the Force Hull. I guess we'll wait and see what pops up next season.

As for speeds, I think we will see genuine 130's this coming season... I might have to place a phone call to one of the Motoring Mags to see if they would do a story on one of the Hawkesbury Races this year. They have radar guns and I have the perfect vantage point for em!

Here's a couple of bits of trivia for you all:

- 1984 holds the record for entries for the Sydney Bridge to Bridge race. 415 Boats with 1,660 competitors!

- Since the ski-boat race started in 1961, Mary McMillan has run every year (that's 48 years of running the bridge!). Mary who is a past Australian and World Champion in Skiing and Barefooting now skis beside her grandson Brock and in 2008 they finished in 1hr 57min.

- The Powerboat race dates back to 1933 when a bet was wagered as to who could make it up the river the quickest. I believe the wager was a bottle of beer. The race inaugural record in 1933 was 3hrs 25min including refueling stops along the way.

- In only the next year the record came down by an hour as boats were built for the race), and 1950 saw the hour mark broken for the first time.

- Outright race record now is from 2008 (Ricky Howard in Hyper Active) and stands at 29min 47sec.

i just thought id let anyone know that hasnt already heard that mark weaver (Australian worlds team member) sustained quite a heavy fall, after hitting a log at around 180kph (110ishmph) at the weekends queensland titles.

DLR - yeah, read that about Mark Weaver on Robbie's site this morning. Was a bad weekend for it. One of the British women also had a bad fall. Hope they both come back happy and healthy eventually.

Mark is still in hospital in Brisbane. He's got a badly broken hand, a broken pelvis and some rib and vertabrae issues. He should recover well, but will be layed up for a while.
