I'm sending out some emails with 91X playing on my internet radio and this morning. Everybody wants to rule the world - Tears for fears comes on.

Crazy this song has been around since I was in the single digits in the early 80's living in Torrance. It's interesting how relevant the lyrics are even today some 30-40 years later. Also how you hear it as an adult verses 8 years old.

Check them out more recently! Still sounding amazing. Probably my all time fav song for sure. The original video is pretty neat with the desert scenes.
I always tie this song and Peewee's Big Adventure together because they came out at the same time and both have scenes of the dinosaurs at Cabazon before they built those restaurants in front of them.

I am all over the board with music so my kids are all into hard rock, classic rock, 80's and country. Tears for Fears is in regular rotation...Head Over Heels, Sowing The Seeds Of Love and this one are always played.

I dig the Exxon gas prices at $1.49 in the video!

We recently had a small get-together of friends going back to the third grade. One of the games/conversations we had was the group identified the top 5 songs from the 80s. This song made the list of songs we discussed. It was a great night of conversation, anyone who grew up in the 80s will have fun playing a game like that. It took hours.

Each person picked their personal top 5 songs and why. We played a short bit of the song and then discussed it.

Micheal Jackson, U2, and the Cure made the discussion twice each with two different songs.

That Tears for Fears song is timeless and well-written. It was on my top 5 list.

Everybody wants to rule the world is a bit burned out but I am a huge tears for fears fan. Have been since I was a kid in the 80’s. The Hurting album is one of those albums I can play and listen the whole way through.

Lead singer Curt had a cameo on the tv shoe “Psych”. He was funny!

They were one of those "background" bands for me in the 80's - meaning they were always on and I wouldn't change the station, but I never bought their music or saw them live; they were just always there. A few years back I happened to see them as an opening act, and every single song they played took me back... They're absolutely on my playlists these days. They headlined Acrisure a couple weeks back and I'm bummed I couldn't make it.

Looks like they'll be playing Darker Waves Fest in HB in Nov.

Never saw the video, thanks for posting. Always loved the song, as I grew up in the '80s. I'd say the video is pretty popular!

My uncle was an FDNY firefighter for 30 years, and also a lifelong volunteer at his local Fire Dept on Long Island. One summer I was visiting, and he got a call for a fire so we hauled ass to the fire station. I didn't know a two-door Saturn could go that fast around turns, he was bumping Tears for Fears as the little blue bubble light raced around on the roof. Good times, I think it was early 90's.

I've seen them a few times starting in 85', I didn't go this time around, too me they're pretty boring live. Don't get me wrong, huge fan, but they're not a good live band.

Passed on Darker Waves too. Love the lineup, but at a single day festival, you'll be hard pressed to see 2-3 headliners. That's a crazy good lineup, though.

I actually really like Gary Jules cover of mad world. Tears for fears original version is awesome of course but man, that cover is fuckin DARK!

But damn, you guys got me going down the rabbit hole of good 80’s music. INSX, Flock of seagulls, OMD, pet shop boys, depeche mode, bronski beat, Morrisy…80’s had some great music!!

So funny...I do this regularly. It went as far as Talk Talk "It's My Life" a while back. Now that is in regular rotation.

Not the same genre but I have been on an ELO kick lately since I stumbled onto that ELO cover band at the Orange County Fair a few weeks back.

I play pandora a lot (I know the others do it too) but I like how they’ll play similar genre and bands based off your single selection / artist / song “station”. ELO is great. Listen to the ELO station all the time.

You should stream 91X. Their format is a good mix of old & new. On Sunday mornings they do Resurrection Sunday from like 6-10. Then church of Bob.

Been my go to for years.

I used to play a lot of steel pulse but then they were doing a lot of "whitey stole my dreams" shit so I stopped. I don't need that shit in my life.
