Awesome. Did you pickup any speed with the new build? Those pics bring back a ton of memories at LL.

I haven't really ran it hard, I did see just over 4k on the tach on one quick blast. I haven't driven it in almost 4 years though either, kinda don't remember what it seems to do lol

good to hear it's treating you right. Nice looking boat, I've always been rather fond of that color combo. Have a great fathers day with your renewed cruiser. As AZ GEO said, it's time to get back after the Hondo now. No rest for the wicked ya know. haha....giddy up. :D

I don't remember the tach numbers off the top of my head but with tiny rollers and trimmed up it used to max out right at 50. Always felt solid, pulled skiers up and out with with a full boat of people, and turned great with down trim a some throttle.

Did another couple projects tonight that were bugging me. I bought some clips for the stern light and mounted that to the under side of the engine hatch. It was stores in a side panel pocket and if the storage was filled it could be a pita to get. Now it's right behind the back seat and easy to get without even opening the hatch all the way.

Second was the stereo wiring. I'm not sure who did the original install, but the memory power wire (yellow) was tied into the switched power wire (red). Every time you shut the perko switch off, the stereo would loose all settings. So I ran a new wire back to a battery and all is good now. No easy task trying to leave all the interior in btw!

Ready for another weekend of boating

HOly shit... It never got close to 60 even when I was solo in the boat. Lol.. After fixing the impellar and regelling the bottom we bumped from around 45ish to 50. If you actually got 60 that's awesome.

I read your wiring post. That would have had to have been the original owner and I don't know if a shop did the work or him. Other than replacing the speakers and a couple gauges I didn't replace any electrical.

We need more pics of the boat!

I had this motor out of the boat again yesterday searching for a new noise. I'm pretty sure I'm chasing a bad lifter. We pulled the motor and put it on a stand to flip it over and inspect the bottom end. Everything checked out perfect and looks brand new still.

I didn't take any pics but we pulled every rod cap off and a couple mains, this motor is solid! Today we're going to take a closer look up top. We had the motor back in and running last night but it was about 9pm so we called it a night. Hopefully I'll have another update this evening 🤞

Im stumped and tired. We pulled the intake yesterday, put a new set of lifters in and got it all buttoned back up only to have the same damn noise! It sounds like valvetrain, like there's too much lash somewhere. The only thing we haven't done is pull the heads, not that I think we would find anything.

I think Im going to pull the motor again in 2 weeks and pull the u-joint coupler out and try again. Im hoping to eliminate the pump and hopefully my noise. If its further back then I can start replacing u-joints or pull the pump apart looking for something in there. Im just not convinced its in the motor, its too clean. My head hurts today

Head looks fine thankfully. There's definitely some witnesses marks but it doesn't look like it tagged a valve. Could have been way worse!

It appears you had some detonation going on?

Something for sure. Could have been some older gas, I could have ran a tank dry and leaned out the motor. It happened too long ago to remember.

It looks like it got the intake valve too, that's about the last thing that I need to replace and then it can go back together. I've got a few calls to make Monday to try and get the head squared away, pistons and rings will be here Wed and I'll have Friday off to work on it all day. 🤞🤞🤞

Long........ Ass........ Day..........

But, I have a complete boat again and I'm at Lost Lake. Tomorrow we go boating again!

Today started with a short block with 7 pistons in it and a boat that had 3/4 of the interior out of it. I probably pushed my pops past his limits today and he'll be feeling it tomorrow but I couldn't have done it without him. I'll try to geat a pic floating tomorrow even though everything looks the same. I can't wait to go for a cruise and jump in the river
