Got the transom in this morning. [emoji28] [emoji41]That's quite a project!! Where are you? My name is dennis rankin. Not a very common last name lol
Yeah looks like something off a flat bottom punt [emoji1] . Eventually I'll weld up a tower and have some sort of roof in it.Thats a strange Bimini
Juddcraft, there's a name l haven't heard of for many years. Very popular boat 70's and 80's especially in Blown drag boats. G'Day mate l'am from Sydney.Got the transom in this morning. [emoji28] [emoji41]
Australia
Yeah I bought it up near Cowra/Young. They were manufactured in Park's apparently.Juddcraft, there's a name l haven't heard of for many years. Very popular boat 70's and 80's especially in Blown drag boats. G'Day mate l'am from Sydney.
That hull wasn't but there was one in particular that was. I have a mate named Stan Sainty and l will ask him about them when l'am at his shop next week. He used to run blown Hydro's and Flats against Juddcraft hulls running Blown BB Chevs at Windsor and the old Silverwater track a number of years ago, if he knows anything l will post it here.Yeah I bought it up near Cowra/Young. Yeah it is a rather shallow hull. Not sure if it was a drag boat, it originally had a 350 SBC in it.
Yeah everything's bigger in the States [emoji1].Welcome to the forum Jimmy! That's one hell of a project you got there. The styling and just about everything about it is completely different then just about anything we have over in the states. Not sure I would put a tower / roof on it..
We'll get it running first 👍Not sure I would put a tower / roof on it..
Looking good but everything is upside down for us here in the states! Your transom looks like mine did! Hahahaa!!! Good move grinding it back and glassing everything in. You'll be happy you did this when you did.
Not questioning your methods but I'm curious why you used Liquid Nails instead of just setting your transom in with fiberglass? Not knocking your methods I'm just curious is all!
Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing the pictures with us!

Carbs, Injected, or Blown, whats your pleasure.
wow and i thought i had a project hahaHaven't put much on lately but it's getting there.
It's about 6 layers thick on the sides and I'm up to layer 3 in the middle.
I'll sand it back in the morning and make a start on the inside, the transoms starting to look to thick around the key hole.
Yeah I look over at your thread and I can feel the pain [emoji4].wow and i thought i had a project haha

Ah well I'm not here for a hair cut, may aswell make a job of it [emoji6]I felt bad taking stringers and the transom out but you cut a hole in the back of the boat I couldn't do that haha
Does anyone know much stress goes through a boat transom? I'm on my 3rd layer of tabing on the transom and not real sure when's enough?
It's 3x csm and 2x woven mat thick. I haven't really intentionally staggered it but it does tapper over ~100mmSpread that tabbing out over a greater distance along the sides and the bottom of the hull. If you end all of your layers of tabbing in the same place, you could end up with a super-rigid transom and then more flexible hullsides. If that happens, wherever you ended all of the tabbing, you stand the risk of your hullsides cracking in those areas. Spread the transition out over a greater distance to help transfer the forces over a greater surface area. Just my .02 Brother.
We're heaps too south for crocks.Consider the liquid nails as "soft wood" and add a few extra tabs X2 . Don't float where there are big crocks and you should be good. :skull

Might get eaten by a massive marry cod tho.
It's like 3mm of liquid nails :yikes:
It's there for flex [emoji6]
What else would u put behind the transom?
The outer skin was fairly ungulating on the inside causing air gaps.
Saw it on YouTube thought it would work.
What the fuck is a Marry Cod, you Victorians are all the Same.:yikesWe're heaps too south for crocks.
