The only 8.1 we had was the motor in our 2005 Malibu. That thing could pull a house off its foundation.

Only 8.1 big blocks in this house. The blue 2000 is bored and stroked to a 496. Its an absolute turd compared to the 2500hd. Have some remote tuning setup for next week with a guy that does a lot of these big block trucks and hopefully he can make some magic happen with it.

Bought a brand new 2006 Yukon XL with a 8.1.

10-12 MPG no matter how you drove it.

First big block I had that didn’t eat spark plugs.
The oil it burns keeps the plugs cool...lol.

Still better mileage than the 6.0L. Little known fact: GM added a 9th hidden injector to the 6.0 and when the ECM senses it's getting better than 9mpg, it sprays gas down the side of the road to make sure that doesn't happen.

I looked at my avg mpg on the 6.0 earlier. 7.1. Lol. But it's been hauling heavy every day. Picked up a pallet plus a partial 1 of 4100 lbs of shingles this morning from Gardena. Left CWS tonight at 10 after dumping 3 tons of stucco. Tearing off other half the roof tomorrow which is rock under the shingles. Have another full dump trailer to dump tomorrow night.

Lol probably true. I have the 6,0 and towing mpg can be bad. Think I avg about 8 towing toyhauler.

But when I had a lance cabover towing my elim 207 I could get 10 staying about 62 mph. Any faster like 65 I went from going 260 miles on tank to 200 miles on tank of gas.

Toyhauler didn’t matter 8 I would cheer. Drivin 60-62 in ca. now in az I have to go 65-70 keep from getting run over well mpg sucks more. But 268k on the truck still great. Do wish I went. 8.1 though.

I have a 8.1L 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban that just stays at the river to tow the boat back and forth to the launch. Great tow vehicle but It has like a 38 gallon fuel tank....... because it needs it.

Magic with an 8.1. The "blowdryer" (Procharger) on the front brought it up to 500 HP so it does OK. I'd still rather have a 525 in it but beggars can't be choosers. She get's us up the lake just fine.
