That’s an older front fender too, I think the bike is a 2014 or 2015. They are great motorcycles.

I can't imagine, but I'm trying, in 2006 my boys, the 14 and 16, talked me into entering the Glen Helen 12 HR. We trained for a couple months, I dropped 10 lbs and went. Run in July, it was a little over 100, laps time through the back county and the pro track lasted 22 minutes then back though the pits where you had support. Not only did we beat the tar out of the bikes, but the physical toll was immense. by the end of the day I had gone from 208 down to 196, could no longer talk, swallow, or hold on! I remember running thru the concrete drain pipes they use there wondering if I was riding the bottom or sides of the pipe, disoriented, hallucinating. Went back in 2007 and 2008 better prepared. Now this guy, holy crap, young sure, but why He isn't at the bottom of a canyon or buried in a silt bed never to be found is beyond me. To keep your head in it for that length of time is amazing, to keep the bike together even as good as KTM has this type of riding sorted out is still stellar. The toll on his body!!! I'd like to hear the conversations that took place in La Paz in Tech after he left. They had to be thinking "NO WAY" "HE IS WAY OUT OF HIS LEAGUE" If I was KTM, I'd have him on the payroll already.............he needs to write a book!

Some of you guys are mixing 2 different baja 1000 stories.

This kid just finished the 2023 Baja1000 on a CraigsList bought used KTM. drove the used bike to LA Paz and then raced the Baja with no crew.

In 2015 a different man bought a NEW ktm from a dealership, drove it down to Baja, and finished the race with no crew.

Again 2 different stories.

The 2023 story is WAYYYYYY better imo

Very interesting story but one poster said he had the bike in the back of his truck and everyone else says he rode it down there? Still quite the accomplishment.
Someone asked him in one of the pits and he said he rode it from San Diego to la Paz. It was posted on YouTube yesterday.

Edit: If you watch the above post-race interview, he explains everything.

… Whatever the reality of the story turns out to be it’s still amazing… in the 60s I hung out with some of the guys in the Checkers… and some would switch riders…on different segments of the course …First in the 500 and then the 1000… the heavyweights rode the entire course themselves…
… A huge thumbs up to the new hero Dutch guy👍

I was living vicariously through that guy last night tracking him. 😆 He was a zombie on stage.

Some of you might have missed the paraplegic guy who iron manned it with a few friends following along and finished many hours before the Dutchman. More props to that guy and his balance skills.

My brothers and I talked about riding the 500 before. Using thr ol' KX500 and getting the family and whatever friends wanted to help do so.

It never happened. I still wish we had. Would have been epic!

Huge hats off to the new Flying Dutchman!
