A friend posting on FB for someone else. I don’t know jack shit about classic cars and prices but I’m thinking this is 20,000 over priced.

Here’s the FB link.Would need to see more pictures but from what I can see with just a 350/350 combo I wouldn't pay that.
45k is a chunk of $$$. Now if it had a lanudry list of parts or was a factory BBC/4 speed manual car he would be there.

Biggest reason I was questioning price.Also...
It doesn't have the original engine either. I wasn't paying attention to that with my first comment.
Well, if the fender tags are true, an original 307 would be a negative anyway. Just my opinion having bought an all original 1971 Chevelle with 307.Also...

Classics have just changed. It seems like the classic car market will be another change in our society. I don’t see nearly as many people buying classics once they get a little money. I hope I’m wrong but could easily be a niche market one day and prices could reflect a large supply and low demand. Many enthusiasts that loved them as kids are getting old and not enough demand in younger generations.
The fender tag says it was a 307 car, so 45K for a backyard makeover???Would need to see more pictures but from what I can see with just a 350/350 combo I wouldn't pay that.

I don’t think I have seen a clean running 68-69 maliibu for sale for sub 20k in a long time. The fender tag says it was a 307 car, so 45K for a backyard makeover???
guys on crack. its a $12-15k car.
It's a Malibu, not even a Chevelle
But I could be wrong.
AgreedClassics have just changed.
Look at the prices for supras, nsx, s2000 , terminator cobras,c6 zr1 and z06,lightnings,etc.
If you couldn’t afford it in high school you are nostalgic when you hit 40 and have $$$. I didn’t grow up with classics being a huge desire as they were just old regular cars at that point. Don’t get me wrong I love me a tri 5 , bubble top impala or a 68-72 Chevy but the prices have become nuts for what I would call shit boxes that will never run like a mid 2000’s vette.
Classics have just become to hard to build with the in availability of parts and the cost of labor. Not hard to be 100k into a 50k car when done.
Haven't priced one in awhile, but seems high for a miss matched car, A Malibu is the low end modelI don’t think I have seen a clean running 68-69 maliibu for sale for sub 20k in a long time.
It will Sell for way more than 15k but 45k is crazy.
You bumped your head budDepending how much bondo is on it, it will easily get that price.
Probably not on Facejunk though.
I’m a Chevy guy but I hate to admit a coyote/6 speed manual pro touring galaxie might be the one I would build with unlimited funds. They look so good done upEveryone of these cars shits all over that Chevelle.
Good info, I’ve forgot more of that stuff than I can remember.I believe in '68 the base models were 300 and 300 Deluxe. All 300's were post cars but some deluxe cars were coupes. Most of those were 6 bangers or 307's. Malibu was next up the ladder and the biggest seller for '68. Trim and options were elevated from the 300. Last was the SS396 which was a model as opposed to a trim option like later years and appropriately called the Chevelle SS396. These cars all had a Satin black trim all the away around the car as well as 3 big block options. No small block SS cars in 68 which should be obvious since they were all "SS396" models.
IMO the red car above is worth 30K-35K at best if everything unseen is in solid shape
300
