Hey guys, thought I would post pics of the flatbottom i'm just about to complete after two months worth of work. My dad has a 20 footer that he bought new in 1980 and he is adamant that he'll never by another boat but a Schiada. Since I can't afford a RC we started looking for a flatbottom starter boat and two years ago I found this Schiada about twenty minutes from my house. It wasn't in great shape but it had the original rigging, seats, and most importantly it was turn key so I knew what I was getting. At the same time Lv R Schiada's flatty rebuild was active on PB and seeing the awesome job he did on that made my dad and I decided to buy this one. Its my first boat and somewhat of a budget build so I couldn't do everything at once(v-drive, engine, upholstry) but i'm pleased with the progress so far.

Why are the gas fills so far back on the Schiada's. I've noticed this on others.

If have the gas fills are futher up on the tanks and your trailer has a lot of rake to it can be hard to fill them up completely without jacking the front of the trailer up. Thats been my experience anyway.

Here's some pictures of the last two weekends at the river. Had the pick-up in the distributor go out on regatta saturday, which sucked, but got a new one in the next weekend in time to get some pics from Wheeler. Not everyone has aerial photos of their boat so I was lucky enough to get these, for free, and to top it off I was pulling a skier.

Great photos!

I saw your boat all weekend on the water. I didn't know until now that it was the same one getting towed from the Regatta. Glad it's running again! :thumbsup

Your place is just above Roadrunner? I saw it Saturday on the trailer and was scoping it out from the Zodiac on my way up to Fox's.

Yea, I saw ya checking it out, and figured you knew what it was but I was busy with something else.

As for the regatta, you have a boat for three years and not one mechanical problem then one weekend everything goes wrong. Thats life I guess.

It has 12s with a 11 1/2x15 stellings. I don't know the engine or v-drive measurements, but I can get them this weekend. I'm 99% positive everything is set up as it was when built, so there may be more recent ideas as far as engine and v-drive placement.

Wonsley, did your family buy the old K house? or are these friends of yours?

Brad needs a nice place to stay when he comes to the river and that house would fit the bill nicely. :D

A close family friend bought it from the Kempers. I help with maintenance on boats, skis, and the house and in return he lets my dad and I stay. Tell Brad my Dad would gladly go in on a house with him as long as he could stay full time.:D

Was your dad with you last week? You need to bring Brad and Corey with you some time.

thanks wonsley66, I think i have some idea of the ideal placement but it doesnt hurt to see what others are set at.
Is that a 390 ur running in your boat? Im going to run a stroked 390 with a 10 degree drive with 9s and a 9* shaft angle, dont know what prop yet. how fast is your boat did u gps it yet?

Im running a very mild .40 over 390. The cam thats in it is a piece of crap, so at this point its just a ski boat. The guys on here more experinced with schiadas would know better but im guessing 70 on the gps.

Steve Harper and I saw you turn around just before Red Rock. That was our buddy in the blue Hondo runner that pulled up next to you. Right when you turned around we saw the orange and said, "That's Wonsley!";):thumbsup

Hi Guys,
As of this week, I'm having a 7* drop-thru strut installed. The back of the strut-barrel will be 22 inches from the transom. It had a 9* strut in it with the motor WAY in the back of the boat when I got it. It was set up as a 4-seater ski-boat. I don't remember off hand how far the motor will be from the transom but I have the details written down that Steve H. gave to me. I took some measurements when I brought it home and I remember that I would have had to move the motor forward 11 inches from where it was located. He told me his old red/white Schiada flat took a great set with the dimensions he gave to me. I think he told me they are the same dimensions from a Schiada K-boat. Maybe Krazy Kanaka?

My boat was never a k boat, but it's built hell for stout and the previous owner claimed to have pictures of it racing:blah:. Originally it had a 427 side oiler, an 8* strut with the engine 36.5" off the transom.
