This really brought back memories for me and not the good ones.

I grew up poor and lived in Adelanto in the mid 90’s. It was insane even back then. At the time LA county would not let gang bangers parole to LA so they moved to the HD, Adelanto was cheap and that’s where a lot of them went.

The guys I lived around were the real deal. Hard core gang bangers, most of them had been convicted of violent crimes and spent significant time in prison. One of the guys walked with a limp because he cut the right pocket out of his pants and had his grandma sew a pocket into the lower leg, he had a sawed off shotgun in his pants all the time. Meanwhile, I’m a blonde hair blue eyed white boy and it made me an easy target.

I don’t want to go into details but I did a lot of things I’m not proud of during those years. If I didn’t, the outcome wouldn’t be good. I saw and experienced things as a teenager that most adults will never have to see and trust me, you don’t want to. I have life long trauma from the things that happened during that time.

We left in 95. I pissed off the wrong people and they were going to kill me if we didn’t move. I remember the last night in our house, nobody slept because the people I pissed off had told me they were coming for me that night. Luckily, we got through the night without incident and were on our way out the next morning.

In the following years most of those guys died or ended up in prison for being the ones killing the others. One of my friends was taken to the desert, stripped naked and shot multiple times. Another friend of mine was at a house party and someone from another gang walked up to him and stabbed nearly 100x. Crazy, crazy shit. That place was no joke.

I’ve lost touch with everyone I still knew up there over the years but always assumed it hadn’t gotten much better over the years and after seeing this, it clearly hasn’t. I used to ride my bike in the area where those bodies were found so I’m very familiar with the area and how desolate it is. It’s an eery feeling to think about it.

I hope whoever is responsible faces justice. 6 dead people means a lot of families are absolutely destroyed right now.
It is a horrible place. I went to school out there from 88-93. Place was horrible back then. Crazy to think I’d visit friends in Crippen apartments as a blonde white boy every day after school.

So, anyone watch the news update? I missed it but read a synopsis. Sounded like they served search warrants and snatched up 5 people and guns. Said it was over a marijuana dispute but didn’t really get into who’s who. Anyone have better info?
They did show photos of the suspect. Looks like Nice guys. 🙄🙄

Some fantastic quick work by SBSD !

Sounds to me like that need to do some
Napalm runs in the high desert. For real.

They’re all illegal grows😉.

Northern California had its share of illegal grows in the 60’s-80’s, the Satellite photos pushed it inside, and underground.

Half the battle growing out there are the 70 mph winds, and blowing debris (tumbleweeds) that rip through the grow operations, knocking down tents, and crushing plants. You know how hard it is to keep an ez-up from blowing away in 35mph winds? 😉
Total loss in 30 minutes. 😉
There actually built decent. Sometimes its hoop houses with metal framing but there a cemented in. The wrapped really well with think plastic. Others are wood framed with the poles cemented in and then wrapped as well.

Some fully build 8 to 10 foot berms of sand all around it.

The wind will eventually destroy it but they hold up long enough.

Some of the local politicians and developers in the county are mixed up in this mess. Might as well turn your cheeks, because it ain't going away anytime soon.

EL MIRAGE, Calif. - Five people have been arrested in connection with the mysterious deaths of six people whose bodies were found in a remote part of the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County, deputies announced Monday. Deputies said the killings were related to a "dispute over marijuana."

Toniel Baez-Duarte, 34, of Apple Valley, Mateo Baez-Duarte, 24, of Apple Valley, Jose Nicolas Hernandez-Sarabia, 33, of Adelanto, Jose Gregorio Hernandez-Sarabia, 34 of Adelanto and Jose Manuel Burgos Parra, 26, of Adelanto, were arrested Sunday, deputies announced.

San Bernardino Sheriff's Sergeant Michael Warrick said that deputies got a 911 call around 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 23, from a man saying he'd been shot, but didn't know where he was. Then, the call ended. Law enforcement tracked the phone using latitude and longitude coordinates, which eventually helped them find the scene.

That's where the bodies of the six people were found. While all six had suffered gunshot wounds, Warrick said, four of the victims had also been severely burned. One of the other victims was found shot inside one of the cars on the scene, the sixth was found shot to death a short distance away.

Four of the six victims have been identified, including Baldemar Mondragon-Albarran, 34, of Adelanto, Franklin Noel Bonilla, 22, of Hesperia and Kevin Dariel Bonilla, 25, of Hesperia. Warrick said they believed Franklin Bonilla was the one who'd called 911.

Deputies said all five suspects were being held without bail while the District Attorney reviews the case for potential charges.

San Bernarino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus said that these murders were part of a trend in the area regarding illegal marijuana grows, saying that the area is "known for illicit marijuana."

While Dicus said that "for all intents and purposes, it looks like illicit marijuana was the guiding force behind these murders," Warrick said that at this point in the investigation, the department can't comment on any potential cartel connections.

Good ole’ Crippen court. I had two childhood friends that I had known since we were babies get murdered at Crippen Court over a drug deal that went bad back in the early 2000’s.

One of my cousins got murdered in the Candlewicks.

Terrible place.

Late 90s to early 2000's we would cut through Adelanto to the 15 instead of Pear Blossom from Palmdale. Chamberlain Way to the 395 became super sketchy to the point of we quit going through there. Felt like I was in the ghetto of South Central and would get some hard looks from those apartments. Looking back we were not smart rolling through there.

Enhanced 9-1-1

How awesome would it be if someone were to survive because the dispatcher was able to locate the caller and provide medics an actual location.

When would this technology used by 911 Dispatching ever not be useful.

Did the adelanto Grand Prix for many years. If you camped in the pits you locked your stuff up or put it back in the truck. Every morning word would go through the pits of how many bikes were stolen and late night you’d see hoodlums walking the pits. Too bad it was a great race.

So basically a breaking bad style deal.. I wonder what happened. Everyone started shooting at each other, or was it a planned hit by one party?

In that situation, I believe the one with the biggest weapons and the most ammo would be the winners of this battle.
I think the only winners would be the leaders of the crews...you know these guys weren't "independent contractors". Bosses were probably miles away.

...and the ties to cartels have been found. One of the shooter's names showed up on the indictment for the meth bust involving a trucking company in San Diego...not a small time group, not just some guys from the illegal grows either.
