For the pontoon. Put in a JL w6 10” in their box with a JL 500.1 driving it. Now I want to replace the (4) 6.5” With an amp & speakers. Need to stay with the 6.5’s. Are the JL w6 6.5’s worth the money? JL w3 good? Others?

You can’t go wrong with anything JL audio makes.

Honestly it's more how you power it and tune it than what you put in...

If it was me I wouldn't spend the money... but my shit will kill anybodies shit in this thread.. LOL. so what do I know. Well other than a guy that's pretty good at powering shit and tuning shit.

Best bang for the buck right here. $80 for a pair

BOSS MR652C

I run a pair in my boat through a set of crossovers for the tweeters which you can either leave in the grill or mount separately.

Daniel at Wired4Sound told me the exact same thing. It is all about more power.

Four 6.5's are only gonna get so loud. If they are adequately powered, adding more will only make them marginally louder. More speakers and an amp is the most effective way...

I think you are inquiring about the M6's over the M3's? The M6's can take a lot of power and I highly recommend them. I would recommend a nice digital amp to power them though. The Jl HD 600/4 is a good one to go with those speakers.

I would recommend throwing a couple sets of 6x9's in the mix as well. 8 speakers with a good amount of power will get extremely loud.
