There is a Cigarette CC with 4 of them too. Pretty easy to just run 450 cowls while testing I assume.

Just watched a promo vid from Mercury and it looks like most of it was filmed on Havasu with a CC and a couple of different cats (Mystic and MTI). Some cool new tech on the 500R.

The Cigarette CC with them had nylon covers over the cowls at the launch ramp, I can’t find the picture.

Everyone knew a 500 was the most logical next step, I don’t know how many people knew today would have been the day though.

Bigger gear case, supercharger, etc. this thing it for pushing big heavy boats, it’s gotta last through that warranty period

I hope it has a 1 1/2” prop shaft. Otherwise the bottom of the lake will be littered with even more beautiful, expensive, shiny, stainless for the carp to stare at.

I think the engine block is probably the least of their concerns. The vertical shaft, lower gears, and prop shop are definitely the challenge.

And then how do you keep the nose cone /bullet from going too big. Therefore, sacrificing power and adding transom lift. Definitely a challenge. We’ll see how they hold up.

Just make a 300R with a 15" mid....that would be a great engine for the 18-22 small light fast boats...

I have been dealing with somethings behind the scenes over here.. I mentioned a couple of them to you today.

That said it has been pretty public that this was coming for awhile now.

I am interested in the crescent shaped gear case and the fin on the front of it and a few other things..

From what I gather it’s basically a 450 boosted more and they added a humidity sensor to make sure it retains 500hp via boost control in any environment.

Here’s some pics I grabbed from tommygun and a few other people that were there.

I was kinda surprised not to see DCB on the test line up?

also the torpedo diameter has been increased over the 450 around half inch.doesnt seem like alot,but in hydrodynamic drag world it is alot.
