First thing tomorrow morning I’ll be running to a place I haven’t seen since 1978 unless they dump it by the time we get there. The last time I was there, I shore started 17 times in a row before coming in too hot for 18 off of ski island.…I was 10. My love Kelly and I will have three full days on the water before running home. Anyone who knows…tell us what we must see!

Ya…a Hallett 270 "Pacific Pearl” will be in tow...

I have heard the Shasta caverns are cool. I have never been, but I hear they are great.

Boat over to Silverthorn and get some pizza.

Bridge bay marina has Huffs restaurant and a pretty diverse menu. Pizza at silver thorn is a must. Cavern tour is cool but it will take 3 hours or so. We did it during a heat wave because it stays 68* inside. If you only have a couple days I’d skip it. A ride up to antlers resort is a very scenic ride, good place for an icecream stop. Too bad you’re a week off. The DLB is headed up for father’s day weekend. The lake is full and I think the debris is light you should have a great trip enjoy. Keep an eye out for bald eagles and turtles on the shoreline.

Have a great trip. Down towards the dam, Big Backboke creek comes in from the West, that is a nice ride, A huge cove along the way, once you make the turn to go up on the North side up a ways, nice place to beach for a day camp. The run up into the head of the creek is cool too. Up the Sacramento, Pit, or the McCloud rivers, really can't go wrong. But up the rivers is where the logs come from. Big Backbone inlet is not. Enjoy!!!

Do keep a sharp eye out for log debris. I personally liked the log debris in the Spring, a big one would take out all the houseboat holding tanks. More throttle!!!!

Sounds like fun. Haven't been up there since the early 80's when we would rent 2 houseboats for a week.
Post plenty of pics for us.

Havent been there since I was little. Maybe mid-90's? We camped for a week in one of the campgrounds on the water. Although the water was a bit low and I think it was something like 200 odd steps down to the dock of the campground. Needless to say, the parents and aunts and uncles only ever went down once and up once a day. lol!

He had the first double decker houseboat too. He use to come into our liquor store in Redding. The old ski show at silverthorne was a fun evening too
I remember the ski show from early 80's. We would float and watch it from the boat. Was alotvof fun.

I went on a Shasta houseboat with my ex’s family when I was in college. It will always be one of the favorite vacations of my life. I really liked the Shasta caverns, but exploring all of the beaches is where it is at. Have a great time!

Watch out for debris....with the water higher than it has been in a while, it picked up a lot of the timber laying around the shore....I heard they were working on cleaning it up, but my cousin lost a prop and cracked a lower on his pontoon from a log he didnt see until too late....

I haven't been there since 2010. One of my favorite places. We even looked at locating a company in Redding because they offered a bunch of tax breaks via the county.

Did the Pit arm to the trees, the arm above it on the map and McCloud arm almost to the end…then a dam run and back to Bridge Bay. Killer day and totally fried. One last thing for today’s report…virtually no debris/ logs. Cleanest water I have ever seen…one floating tree, easily seen. What a gem this place is…sometimes you see a few boats sometimes not for over an hour.

A few more from this trip. Shasta is the 9th largest man made lake in the U.S. Had no idea it was this big. We are definitely going back…hopefully in mid August.

Ya know there is a natural water slide you can get to only by boat. Right?
