So last summer not a single issue, but now both times I’ve gone out I’ve had the same issues.
Boat will like load up and get all goofy and only way to get it to have power again is to shut it off, start up no issues (this time) last time it completely lost prime and had to prime it and get all the air out of it at the schrader valve on fuel rail.
Only change is Dane headers and BoostPower pcm tune. Anyone ever have any issues like this??

I had a 496HO that would fall flat on it's face and the only way to get it back to normal was to shut it off. It ended up being the fuel pick up in the tank would suck shit up and get clogged and soon as I turned the motor off the stuff would fall off back down into the tank. Check any filter with fuel going through it.

Good advice.

You know what they say, if it ain’t broke don’t fuck with it lol. Sounds like a tube problem? How long does it run before the problem accurs

if it is losing fuel prime, there is a fuel supply problem. Start there. Did you mess with ANYTHING fuel related when you upgraded stuff? Disconnect and reconnect anything?

You said you had to "prime it". Sounds like you are getting air in the fuel rail. Might want to start there

Along these lines, check fuel (suction) lines....not sure what was used on your boat, but there have been a bunch of "ethanol proof" lines that are crap. I had some line with a clear liner of some sort that would suck itself shut...got pissed off and decided to tear every line out of the boat to figure it out and when I pulled one hose off it had 2 feet of the liner stuck on the barb fitting.

You might simply grab a 5 gallon gas can and use that as a temporary tank with a section of new line going to the LP pump to see how it does.

If all else fails try looking into this disc fuel filter Mercury Part #892665. This filter sits underneath the water separating filter and is most always overlooked...

I replaced that as well when i did my filter.

I took boat to Premier when i pulled off the water, they found that the little heat exchanger tube deal was all plugged up with rubber. The computer showed an over heat code but also only showed a max of 154.3* so he said that as well the high water pressure it stored would be something in that heat exchanger. And there was. Also said the little uscg check valves were sticking. They had me drop boat and will have it done by 6:30-7:00 for me as I’m off the next couple days.

I agree here. I forgot my boat did this 2 years ago. My fuel lines rotted from the inside and would suck shut. It was right after sitting over winter.

Well I’ll pull the lines out maybe just see if i can find a pt# in the tanks and just order two new pick ups from IMCO even if they are ok i see it as preventative maintenance

Imco pickups are just a tube...they don't really go bad. If there's crap in the tank, you'll have to figure out how to clean it out...the pickups are fine.

Pro-tip: don't use a shop vac

How full are your fuel tanks? Curious if you could be sucking air somewhere. Cracked pickup or faulty fuel caps? Plugged fuel tank vent?

Didn’t you rewire this boat? Could it be a faulty ignition wire of some sort?

Seems the only thing that has changed from last year is the rewiring.

What has changed since you did the updates? Pre updates it was fine. Post updates it’s not...

Fuel both tanks just over 1/2

Yesterday we blew the vent tubes as well has billet fuel caps.

Ignition switch is good for sure.
I went through this morning all the wiring under dash all is still good, as well I’d imagine it wouldn’t be just a kill the motor then start right back up. The computer showed it was limping as per “over heated port manifold temp”
Other upgrades were Dana headers and BoostPower programming

Ran fine. Then you added Dana's and the tune right? I bet it is in the tune.

Does it do it on both tanks? If it does I doubt both fuel pick ups would go bad at the same time. I would look really hard at the low psi pump that feeds fuel to the high psi pump. I highly doubt its in the tune if air is in the fuel rail test port area. Also unrelated but have seen many issues with spark plug failures in these engines.

Go back to stock! Like you mentioned earlier, never had problems, until...

PSA, don’t mess with the 496, they are like energizer bunny, they just keep going.

I ordered from Imco two new roll over valves and a set of flappers.

But I’ve been going round and round with Bob from MWI/Dana and we really think we figured out the issue. With what the codes said via the scan on my ecu plus some pics i sent Bob we realized that when Lakeland installed the headers either they did not read the directions, don’t know how to read, or well maybe they are just absolutely incompetent. They did a few things wrong and between texts and things i read in here Bob thinks he has me now in the right direction.
I must totally honestly say that i have absolutely nothing but the upmost respect for MWI/Dana Bob as well he literally read everything on this thread as well asked me a few questions about it after seeing the photos. He sent me about 15 novels last night that totally explained this issues as well the how to’s of how to fix the issues. If the industry had a few more like him omg we’d have the greatest hobby.
As i only lost prime and got air in the rail that one time i think i May have just ran the one tank empty and not switched tanks soon enough thus for running the motor out of fuel. I hate to admit my stupidity but well there you have it.....

Had the same problem with mine, turned out to be a temp sensor in 1 of the exhaust pipes. Not sure if you have any on that motor. I have stock exhaust.

They had the inlet water for the headers going to the wrong port  so basically the port header was getting to hot and throwing the boat into limp mode, i got to say Lakeland Marine is not a place i would recommend to anyone. I wouldn’t let them air up a raft for me afraid they’d screw that up as well lol.
Two of my seat cushions are getting some repair work should be done tomorrow he said when i dropped them off so either tomorrow afternoon or Saturday i hope to go play again and be sure it’s fixed now.
