You don't even need a CCW anymore in AZ. The CCW renewal used to come with a refresher course, now they don't even do that.

DPS: "Send me $43 and we'll mail you a card just like the one you already have? :fingers:

Yes. Can't go into a restaurant that serves alcohol without. Can't be within 1000 feet of a school etc etc.

Also, it helps when to go to other states that recognize.

Be thankful for the laws you have in AZ.

That said its all BS according to the 2A.

And it's good for 5 years correct? So it breaks down to almost $8.50 a year. Sounds like a Win Win to me. Sweet! :)

Fixed it lol

Yes 5 years but your math is off.

Maybe that's why he's mad. $8.60 a year is rough.

I mean it's right up there with a couple hundred bucks and intrusive regulations even in the counties in California that you can get one.

My buddy got his a few months ago with no problem in Yorba Linda. He is a dentist and said he needed it because of the medicine in his office.

I saw an article a little while back that some girl won a lawsuit against the city of Torrance to get one. Apparently they're issuing some now. I'm contemplating trying but I have a feeling I may not have good enough cause for those pricks. Article said it needs to be renewed every 6 months too. Bunch of crap.

Article probably wrong about 6 months unless some sort of special something or being done illegal. Even though they are issued at the local level it is a Ca Penal Code thing. Standard issue is 2 years.

I haven't heard Torrance yet but I've heard of other cities. Problem is Chiefs change too often and are a hired position and at the whim of the City Council.

For instance Upland was issuing for a few months, got a new Chief and those in the process who had already paid etc got booted. Others won't be renewed. City is being sued. Dumb because those applicants should have just gone to county. In your case then you aren't getting one in LA County so research and if they are issuing them go for it.

If not then it's a lot of time, money and hassle to be denied and every other app in the future whether in Ca or out of state you will be asked if you've ever been denied. Reason will be valid but it'll make it something that will need to be looked into.

I guess I better stop carrying til I get a permit

Just so you know if you are carrying a legally registered handgun and not committing a crime and not in a school zone it is a misdemeanor.

That is if you get caught because it is concealed.

Just saying.

I'm sure no one carries a concealed weapon without a permit. It would just be silly. [emoji15][emoji6][emoji16][emoji16]

Just curious, cause I don't know jack...if you get a CCW in CA (OC), does that mean that you can carry a loaded (concealed) weapon?

Yes and even though it's issued locally, it's a Ca permit so it's good in the entire state.

Ranges between $100.00-125.00 here in Louisiana.. That's all getting ready to change as they just voted NO CCW permit required after 2016.

You need to move a little north to Riverside County.
In Los Angeles it's impossible, but OC is pretty easy. Got mine, all in was around $400 for initial, training classes background etc etc. Renewal every 2 years. Told them I was an avid hiker, where police present isn't readily available. Start to finish was around 6mo.

I'd keep good cause to PM's. People read them and use them word for word and then in counties like OC denials start happening because it's cookie cutter and not unique.

Not that anything is wrong with it if that's true to you. It's just all the sudden everyone is a hiker but they are sitting in the interview weighing 400 pounds and wheezing.

You need to be careful with that one. Your permit might be good for the entire state but you could still be in violation of "local laws". Some Cities have ordinances that would prohibit you from legally carrying.

I could totally be wrong here but I would think that state law preempt a local ordinances when it comes to firearms laws. Even so that might keep you from being convicted but a city such as San Francisco would surely like to put you in the pokey even though you'll be let go.

But I digress because I'd be writing novels about all the nuances for no reason. School zone alone would raise tons of questions. If you get a permit in the three SoCal counties who issue (most of the inmates here are from SoCal) then you will get versed on the legalities in the training classes and it would behoove the person to not only pay attention at that time but also to research any cities they might be frequenting or visiting.

Also, concealed is concealed. Do your best to follow the law but if you accidentally break a local ordinance no one is going to know unless you don't know what concealed really means.
