3am early Sunday morning, my Ring cameras go off alerting me to motion in the driveway. Thinking it was a stray dog I didn't check my phone until the second alert and then I see a guy walking around trying to open my car doors. My wife got on 911 and just as he was walking towards my front door I opened it up and introduced myself. He looked a little shocked to say the least but was very compliant and I was able to safely hold him until the Sheriff's arrived about 25 minutes later. He said he didn't speak English but understood the directions I was giving him but when I asked him questions he just said no and shook his head. I live in Phelan and for those that may not know it's very rural and its not normal to get very much foot traffic. In the end no property damage and no one was injured.

From Google:

Attempted burglary is when someone intends to commit burglary but is unsuccessful. In California, the punishment for attempted burglary is usually half the jail time or fine that would have been given for the completed crime. The maximum sentence for attempted burglary is three years in state prison.

To prove attempted burglary, the prosecutor must show that the defendant: Intended to commit burglary, Took a direct step towards committing burglary, and Failed to complete the burglary

Looks like one of those fine PhD Engineering candidates that came across the Darien Gap to find a better job at JPL. Venezuela has the best engineering schools.

He just got side tracked looking at your stuff on his way to do propulsion engineering for NASA.

Or. . . . on his way to UCSF to do brain surgery. Just checking out if your Lexus would suit him.

Best & brightest crossing that border.

That's a great question, after questioning him they just took him away and never came back to talk to me even though I standing in the doorway. Oh well, I guess I wasn't on the need to know list.
They probably drove him to LA and dumped him lol

Sat. night I woke @ 3;25 am to pee. I live in the foothills here in D.Bar. my balc. slider was open for fresh cool air to sleep by.
I faintly heard someone yell...like- hey....hey....(inaudible) then a second or two later a pop.........pop......pop. a second or 2 between shots. I listened for sirens afterward but nothing. then pee'd and went back to sleep. It's crazy out there these days. Cali laws are not stopping shootings, only law abiding citizens and that's why the rulers need to be dealt with accordingly. They are threatening our lives every day, moment by moment.

Inconsiderate neighbors...always use a can after 10pm.

He looks tired and worn out. Feel kind of bad for his position he is in but......I can tell you this....out here where I am at he could have been shot no problem with no blowback. At a minimum the pups are going to be on his ass and a pistol whupping would take place.....lol

One of the reasons I absolutely hate going to CA these days.

Glad you guys are safe

He’s probably telling his compadres, “Shit, they both had guns! I felt protected when the Cops arrived.”

FWIW - Had excellent jack rabbit hunting in Phelan when in high school.

Lived in Michigan in an old house out in the country and the bathroom had a double hung window with the toilet right next to it. No ac so in the summer you sat on the shitter and the window was open with the sill was about 3 ft off of the drive way. Who ever built the house sure fucked it up. Got up to take a shit at 1 am on a Saturday night and some mother fucker comes up to the window and starts yelling at me in Spanish!
Got off the pot and went to the bed room and grabbed my Mossberg 590 pump with built in foregrip flashlight and headed back to the bathroom.
The old guy was outside the window still yelling so told him get back or I will shoot.
The gal living with me is up and trying to figure out what is going on and speaks Spanish.
Turn out he had been out drinking in town and crashed in the big ditch down the road and walked to our place to get help. He lived at Bill's migrant camp up the road.
We called Bill and he came over and grabbed the dude and took him back to camp.
If she had not been with me I would have blasted him the #2's in a 3"mag shell.
Glad I did not blow the old guy away that night be sure was tempted.
Every fall when the tomato picking season was over the camp would clear out and any spare bikes in the yard would disappear.

Pretty much a nightly occurrence in long beach, I think a god head slap and ass kick down the driveway would have been fitting in this situation.
