This thing has been floating around since the 80's and for some reason I keep holding on to it. Would this be an item that gamers would be after or just some old aviation kook? I would like to mount it on my boat but can't figure out where to put it. :)

I had a gold plated tail hook but someone attached their gleebs to it and off it went!

I'm still trying to figure out what plane it came off of. I'm thinking an F-4 🙃

The material looks like old-fashioned Bakelite, but I assume it was plastic? Do you still own this grip?

I'd be interested in buying it if you consider a direct sale. If you prefer to offer it to a wider group of potential enthusiasts I'd go with eBay. At least that's the market place I check on a regular basis for items like this. I am an aviation enthusiast and collect control sticks from different aircraft types and areas (from WWII to modern).

Interesting, how did you find this post and/or site? Do you have a search engine that’s looking for keywords? I see you you signed up just to comment in this thread.

Just make sure you don’t leave your Wingman

I am no bot nor spammer or any other kind of fraud. I simply used google to search for "F-14 grip" and this thread was one of the results. I agree I signed up just to reply to this thread because I am interested in the grip and there was no other way to contact the owner. I have published a book about WW2 aviation ('Captured Eagles Vol. I', Roger S. Gaemperle, www.vintageeagle.com) and have my own website. You could contact me via the contact form on my website if that adds some trust.

That’s actually really cool. I was only asking how you found it because I search for random things as well. 👍

I've grown fond of the grip since it has some of my history attached to it. For the most part it's just more junk that's taking up time and space. Throw out an offer and we'll see where it goes from there.
Were you an F-14 pilot or in the Navy? Can I contact you directly to make an offer (or you could send me a PM via my website)?

sounds like a solid offer. However. I don't do zell or zebra or any of those payment things. Are you in Parker?
I use PayPal for all international payments. I don't know zell, zebra nor Parker unfortunately.

I'll see if I can figure out a way for payment that we would both be comfortable with. I guess I could rejoin ebay.
eBay would be fine, I am a long-term user of eBay (joined in 1999). Payment is usually also via PayPal at eBay.

Wheeler is the salt of the earth, I’ve done business with him and known him over a decade. You’d be safe mailing him a check and letting it clear and him mailing you the product. I guarantee he will

Thank you. Good to know that the stick comes from a trustworthy and respected owner. Over the years I have bought many sticks and have preserved the past history (owner, aircraft, etc.) if known and for me that is part of the history and appeal of these artefacts. I have one stick that was removed from a belly-landed Fw 190 (German fighter plane of WW2) in Tunisia. It came with a photo of the aircraft that the GI took when he removed the stick.

Hi America,

My name’s Cedric,

I’m also interested in this Tomcat control grip, French guy ! 🇫🇷

Already got one, a friend in Paris is looking for too. 🙃

I’m a strong « Cold War » era flightgear collector & I also collect control stick grips, actually have 49 from all over the world.

Wheeler, think I can propose your far more than $700.

Contact me in PM if it works, just logged in.

I’ll bet the carrot extends further, if you have a river house on the Seine River, with a perch to capture river action😁
Seine river… A good friend & colleague works on ! 👮🏻‍♂️

Thus I’m 😎

I’m not sure Wheeler can send that part to another country without special paperwork.

😉
