Nice boat. No matter what, if you buy a boat with a blown motor you need to keep about $20k set aside for a rebuild. At some point, the engine will blow and you don't want to be one of those guys needing to put it on the Visa, or have the boot sit until you get the money to do it.
THIS. That is what happened with my HTM. The owners couldnt afford a motor when it shit itself from leaking headers. They waited until selling it years later to get a new motor and by then, all the other systems and accessories were fucked from sitting so long.

I took that one straight with no lube!

Here is one set of emails for a teaser. One email says he purchased a new motor already one says he’s filing a claim with his insurance so he hadn’t purchased the motor after I paid him in full. Let me know if you wanna see more. Keep using iguana if you wanna get fucked by him too.
Oh boy, this is so common in the boating industry it seems.

Its not your responsibility to wait it out while he trys to claim his insurance. I would be furious.

Waited 10 months for him to work it out then he decided to rebuild it in his shop motor lasted 50 hours.

I’m sure he did to be honest. BUT when your biz motto is honesty, integrity, and transparency and you spit lies is where the issue comes to play 😂😂. Hopefully no one gets fucked out of 35-40k like I did.

So as the dad. I’m hoping he is coming home with the boat on Wednesday. Looks like all the Dotted I’s and crossed T’s have been crossed
I’m super stoked for my son.
Hope is doesn’t get mad me for being so happy and proud of him.

Awesome congrats to him! That blower surge sounds mean. Maybe he should run it at the dam to dam run? 😂

He will get it and be ready to rip it. No better way to learn than dad by his side running 120 miles round trip.

Will be his first owned in name yes. Been on and driven many smaller boats
He will also be doing the tres Martin class cause he just wants to know what he doesn’t. Again. I give him props up and down for being so ahead of the game.
That’s awesome. Good for him being responsible. Sounds like he will respect the power that motor has.

I hope he doesn’t get mad at me. But.
Looks like it’s for real. Going down to pick the boat up tomorrow.
If he’ll let me I’ll post a tow and go pic when heading out.
Awesome congrats to your son

So next question.
Obviously it had a full check up before he bought it.
All was good.
However. Now we are seeing some gear oil seeping from the prop area

I know nothing about outdrives and I am not calling anyone out at all. I’m simply asking. So let’s dont turn it into that. Please.

I would assume They checked the gear oil etc during the tests. Is it possibly it was just over filled. Or is a seal now possibly bad. Current owner and my son saw no dripping/ seeping before. ???🤷
Just looking for info.

Does your son know how to change drive oil? I would do all the basics first and go from there. Gear oil, spark plugs, engine oil change, fuel filter, and impeller.

Most likely just didn’t clean good enough when putting the drive screw back on. Unless it’s constantly leaking.

If you notice oil leaking from the propeller shaft, it's a sign that the seals in the lower unit are damaged.

I always hit mine with a touch of brake cleaner after I do a gear oil change to be sure that it's not leaking before I put it back in the water. If oil is leaking from a seal, water can get back in. Easy thing to do is take the prop off. Put a wrench on the lower drain plug beneath the prop shaft to be sure it's tight. Hit it with a touch of brake cleaner and wait to see it if still leaks. You could always run it on the hose in gear for a little bit after cleaning to be really sure.

As for the canopies. I would highly suggest using only a micro fiber towel and Plexus cleaner.

The o-ring/washer wasn’t put back onto the drain bolt behind the prop. Ran by absolute right when I got into town and they got me fixed up and topped off the resivoir for me in 15 minutes. Awesome people over there. Going to take it back to them shortly, the trim lines to the rams are pretty worn, and the lines to the drive for hydraulic steering are also showing some signs of wear, going to have them just replace them all.

I loved it all weekend. Felt stable at pretty much any speed. Was mostly trying to learn the boat, what it likes and doesn’t like, so a lot of just cruising around 55-65 but overall felt very comfortable and easy to drive. Has the porpoise from 70-76 but easily powered through it. Held her around 80 for a while then bumped up to 90 for a short time. Even at that speed still felt very controlled.

Stereo question. All stereo and subs sound and work awesome, until my phone rings. After the ring ends or call is over, music starts playing again, subs don’t start working again until I quit out of Spotify and restart it. Anyone experienced this? Spotify issue? Previous owner used Apple Music and said he never had an issue.

Always used Spotify and never had this issue in my truck or at home with Sonos.

It’s Rockford Fosgate. It’s beyond frustrating lol. At least I’m not the only one and it’s not an issue with the stereo. Thanks!

Well a sad day for Little Mr.C. aka. RKC.
Short story I got. Was cruising about 60. Slowed into the throttle got to about 80 and then he said he felt like the brakes were slammed on.
Milky oil out of few places in the motor . Prop will not turn.
Not sure if he blew a drive and then the motor. Or if the motor is causing no prop spin.
My heart breaks for him as a parent 😞
I’m not sure what he’s doing right now. But I’m drinking for him. 🤷
