Damn none of the picture open up.
Calling Dave Connolly!
He had a bunch of HP and ran in the 120s in a 21ft boat.
If you're truly looking for a 120mph top end, I would think your set-up would look something like this: 40% overs in the V-drive, 16 pitch prop and spinning the engine at 6,500 rpm. If you could get in the 14 to 15% slip range you'd be at the 120 goal. Probably better think about using a two-speed tranny too.
60 gear, 3 speed tranny with custom 3rd gear, 13 x 17 tweaked Joey Grose custom 2 blade, 6800 limiter.

24 I/O cav plates vs 24 vdrive with cav plates. Let's say they powered to both hit 90 outside of purist's bias is there a significant handling difference?
All that to get 88mph? [emoji6][emoji23]
No...all that power to tow a broken down "Schiada killer"

At those horsepower levels, are there any turnkey engines that arent mercury racing? When I say turnkey I mean start everytime, run with no problems, and only require periodic maintenance.
1478 HP / upgrades should top 1700HP
119 MPH best.
600HRS, replaced rocker arms, injectors at 300hrs. Oil/filter changes every 10hrs. We ski a lot at Lake Mead, 99% of hrs less than 60mph. Leakdown at 600hrs showed minimal deviation, even Carson laughed at the time on it.
I would love to see a #6 drive on a pad bottom 24 with a Brummett TT or a Boostpower setup. It will still be 25+ mph slower than a Nordic Cyclone(Aussie clones) or similar ski race rig.
