I'm surprised you didn't find some bird feet and belly feathers in there from birds that managed to get away.

23F is pretty cold when it's windy, which it was in Parker overnight.

I hope I don't have any cracked pipes. I should have drained them, I always turn the water off, but I never open the taps.

Shit.

I don't think it's stays cold long enough. We have never had an issue. Always turn water off but never drain pipes.

still cold here even at 12:30pm. 42F at the moment. Going to get very cold again tonight I'm hearing. Haven't seen one boat on the river all day. Just took this photo. It's like a ghost town out here. Now waiting for the Parker 425 pre run vehicles to come by.

Paul, I'm heading to Diggers to check on a frozen well pump, would you like me to stop by your house?

Mike, you really need to move to a warmer climate. it's 51.1 deg. at my house now with a low 31.8 deg. around 7 am.

I unplugged the garage openers. There's no way to access the house. I'll have to let it ride till next weekend.

Ok. That would work. There are two up front on the dock side and one on the side by the garage. Thanks Wheeler.

I don't think it does either but that bird bath has me thinking now.. I have a wall section of copper pipe that runs outside to a water softener that is outside as well..

i was at our river place over night which is about 20 miles down river from parker. it was frieking cold. i had to leave around 6am this morning and water did not come out of any of my faucets inside. no pipes had burst yet but my suspicion is definately some ice blocking the flow from the well. do you guys think i need to head back out there to make sure my well pump doesnt blow or give it time to thaw out eventually. i'm in phoenix and i'm alway looking for an excuse to go back to the river but i have a busy week and would rather wait til next weekend to head back out with the family. thanks

Its the 3 night in a row thing. Stuff never really warms up during the day, then the next night it has a running start on freezing. Mid 20's again tonight.

Id be concerned with exposed pipes but nothing in the house or underground would burst I dont think. Hose bibs, swamper lines, etc.

BTW: That river shot is awesome.:thumbsup

My daughter is intrigued with these! Do you edit them or are they as they are?
I believe they are all from your fixed lens if I'm not mistaken.

What about boat motors? Will I have a issue if its not fully drained? Did not make it out new years like planned and now no end of work in sight.

Way too many factors come into play for a simple yes or no answer.
Does the boat see sunlight?
Is the engine covered?
What is the high temp?

If your well is a captive system with a pressure tank and pressure switch, you will need to insulate the plumbing from the top of the well head to the tank. Where it will most likely freeze is the 1/4" nipple below the pressure switch. The cold will not ruin the pump because it is at the bottom of the well. What will happen is the switch will never call for water because the pressure won't drop allowing cut it to happen. Get some heat tape frame Home Depot and wrap it around the pipe. I have had several calls today already because of this. It was minus 8* in Big Bear Sunday morning.
