Had to turn the part, and reclamp it to square the ends. It's roughly 12"x 25 1/2", so it just made it, travel wise on the "X" axis. I could've used spacers under it but it probably would've had a sag issue in the middle.

Then used the router to ease the edges, hit it with the sanding block and some WD-40. cleaned up pretty good for something I got from a scrap yard.

Love watching your builds, you have some serious skills..

Might out to consider quitting you day job, and building boats for living... maybe your retirement job...

Jetbote motor swap I did a few weeks ago. Got it plumbed, and running right. Motor that came out didn't run a thermostat. Took some fooling around with a pressure relief valve, and drilling a few holes in the stat to get some heat in the motor, and keep the exhaust cooled off.

Damn for weeks now I was wondering where you went --- ummm, nowhere, I'd just lost track of where this build thread was don't otherwise check the Church. Damn, you're doing some really nice work here Hula

Your buddies laser software looks like mine. Don’t forget my offer bud. How thick of material can he cut?

I'll ask him tomorrow. I honestly don't remember. We're grabbing some lunch up at Fremont.

Cut that panel to size that I layed up. It fits inside the cushion cover, and spans the gap nicely.
20180621_225001.jpg

I sanded the edges, and both faces to knock off any loose strands, then a quick wipe with acetone to get rid of the dust.

Ordered grab bars, a dual usb port, hinges and a catch for the glovebox, and a couple of small deck plates. I want to thru bolt the seat bases down, and I have no other option than to cut a hole under each front seat. I'll make some 3/16, or 1/4" plates and thread the holes for the seat bolts.
Wood screws just won't cut it here.

I tabbed the inside together, and glassed the outside. The bottom will get a couple layers of biax, as I used 1/4" plywood for the actual bottom. It spans over the open space below, in the bilge. I'm attempting to be mindful of the weight. The way the old hatch and interior were put together didn't use this method whatsoever. The "boxes" that were basically jump seats were carpeted and made from 3/4" plywood, held together with black drywall screws. New bench is 1/2" and tabbed. I'll weigh both once its completed, as I'm curious to see the difference.

Do you have to remove the seat bottom cushions to get the lid open ?
nope. Going to make a tapered filler cushion at the bottom of the hatch. It'll miss both ways, opening the lower seat base to get into that storage, or opening the hatch to get into the bilge. Johnny (aka hydroskreamin) stopped by earlier and put another set of eyes on it with me. :)

Ill have the bottom seat cushions on a hinge that will open towards the bow.

Took the d.a., and knocked off the stickers, then the 4" with a flap disc to flatten out the csm. Then the d.a. again to lose those marks. A light coat of fill to flush up the low spots. I should be able to finish sand the front and top tomorrow.

Can you be position positive and small? My Howard had cup holders in the floor on each side of the front seats. May just be an idea if it’ll work. Plus if your a can tipper great place to keep a beer vs an exposed cup holder

Making up my interior lighting strips.
Bought a roll of red. Soldering some short wires to the terminals, blob of hot glue to cover the bare wire, then shrink tube. I'll throw the same metripac connectors on every one. Every wire in the boat will have this type of connector.

It looks like there's solder exposed, but its buried in hot melt, and the adhesive from the shrink tube.

I've thought about what you're saying, but the seats are too high off the floor to do that. I'm building some coamings into the gunnels.

Stereo shop did this in my last boat and man were they bright. Where did you order the strip from? I think I want to do it myself this go around!

I bought a bunch of rolls off flea bay. They're 9.99 for 5 meters. The clear on top of the actual led feels like a silicone.
I'm going to use an adhesive called plexus to glue a small strip of aluminum angle to the inside of the gunnel, we'll see how long the 3m adhesive lasts on the back of the led strips. I cut the strips 12" long and plugged it into a cordless 12v battery to see how long of a chunk I wanted to use. 1 foot may be too bright, and I can always trim them down.

Order on eBay then bring it bye next week! Hard part out here in the heat is getting it to stay up! I just got a 250’ roll of 18/2 wire and have well over 100’ left from what i ordered it for. We could bust it out in an hour or so.

I had to, little hotter out here, use 30# 1” 3m tape, i made a 82” strip for each side and then laid them out on the tape, then a sharp xacto blade to cut them apart as i laid one strip next to the other on the 1” tape then stuck them up. I tried the cheap stock stuff lasted an hour then the 10# then the 10# and hot glue, the 30# 3m was the only thing that worked!

You may not easily be able to reach those cup holders but they will be a multi use as will allow the access to bolt it, as well if your a sip and cruiser it gives a nice fast stash place for the beer in coozie then having a Diet Coke in same color coozie in the close to and normal location cup holder. My dad was a big time beer drinker and was keen on passing tips to me, i took the first tip and just don’t drink at all!! Lol

I'm more of haul ass to the sandbar last one to leave type. Cupholders in the hula actually siphon themselves empty...

No open containers while underway. Pound that shit. It's time to go. ;).

I'm installing some deck access plates under each seat to facilitate thru bolting.
Little 4"ers. They'll be hardly noticeable.

You guys need to try plexus. It's a 2 part adhesive. You'll find it on Amazon. The mini caulk gun type deal and a 50cc with the swizzle stick mixing chamber deals will run ya 25-30 bucks. Sets in 5 minutes, and you'll have to use a chain to tear it off. The psa glue that comes on the back is merely a suggestion. Lolol...

The 3M tape works really well. Specially when you use the primer for it. I used that combo a lot when I worked at a trailer Fab shop. The aluminum itself would actually tear before the adhesive failed. It was that crazy good.

Starting to get the floor flattened out from grinding the damned carpet glue off. You can see 1 speaker hole, the cupholders glassed in, and the holes drilled for the rear grab bar.

Same filler that hydroskreamin is using.
Product is made by ADTECH plastic systems. P-14 ULTRA WHITE RESIN.
I bought it from express composites in Minneapolis. They ship to California. ;)

I had previously skinned both faces with biax. I needed to wrap the edges to prevent a possible delamination. Took the 4 inch, ground it back, then the roundover bit in the router to radius the edges, and laid some csm around the perimeter. I did it in 2 stages. 1 half, then the other. This is the second half. I've already sanded and filled the first.
You can see the feathered edge of the filler on the bottom. My goal here is to make this part resemble something that came out of a mold.
