This boat belonged to Parnelli? Any older pics of it?

Great looking boat and what a time capsule with all original gel and interior. Good luck with the sale.

This boat looks familiar. I wanna say I read somewhere the holes in the engine cover were for the turbo engine?

yea, this is the boat from the pics Dave posted a while back from a schiada meet. It was docked at Foxes

the boat had an Unser powered twin turbo w/ all sorts of trick shit on it. Its a super early RC if all of my memories are still intact

Not at all. It’s the thickness of the deck. In 77 Schiada started using a honeycomb type material between two layers of fiberglass and the deck is about 5/8” of an inch thick. Pre then was a single layer. From what I hear mine (77) was the first honeycomb deck when they changed. The Desert Heat boat was a 76 and single layer.

My '79 has 1/4" balsa under the deck, maybe some light layup racing deal? It may also explain why it collapsed so bad around the bulkhead.

I haven't been able to look at many but all of the ones I have seen have the thicker layup you are referring to. I had assumed it was just 1/2" balsa but honeycomb would be lighter.

I have not seen that. Interesting. I hope someone chimes in that knows more than me because it would be interesting to know what’s really been done/used. I’ve seen a few single layer decks collapse around the bulkhead. I don’t think it was till the mid 80s they started using a pad for the deck to rest on the bulkhead. I know I had to add them to mine.

It's probably worth mentioning that it was put together with a brand new Dart Big M block, Racetec pistons, and special camshaft. I have details and specs if someone wants to know about the engine.
