I’m looking into replacing the OEM diesel fuel tank on my 2024 Ford F250 from the 34 gallon tank to a new 55 gallon tank so I don’t have to buy fuel in california. The way I drive back and forth to california and colorado it would pay for it in no time.
I can add the tank easily enough but the fuel gauge will not properly show the actual amount of fuel nor will it show the miles to empty.
Im told this is a simple update, using a Forscan tool, to change the tank size, similar to changing the tire size but who does these updates. I live in havasu and talked to the Ford dealer here in Havasu where I bought the truck new and they stated they won’t touch it. They have stated modifying the tank size in the computer would void my powertrain warranty. I don’t even have 6000 miles on it so that is not an option.
With all of the aftermarket tanks installed out there someone has had their tank size updated in the ECU to get computer gauges to reflect the larger tank? Am I wrong?
