I was gonna throw a 6-Month weight-loss challenge , $10 per pound from the losers to the winner after 6 months. . . but that's a bit gnarly.
How bout a casual January 1 to July 1 'Chub-Scout Challenge' ?
My worthless carcass has been in a state of atrophy for the better part of 2+ years, need some kind of moto.
Nothing serious . . . who's in?

Nice ! . . . last time I weighed myself I was babysitting some neighbors pets while they were on vacation . . . I used their can to take a leak and saw a floor scale . . . one of those digital ones . . . stepped on it and was so shocked I had to do a re-weigh . . . . I was like, "Oh Shit" !!!! . . . it had one of those features 'Remember Last Weight' . . . you should of seen me frantically trying to erase it !!!! 😅😆😂🤣

No guidelines . . . I was just gonna do a progress report, or lack-of as the year progresses. I figured if I put it out there, it might get me to stick with it, and maybe a few others in the same boat as well. I think there was/is a thread from the past along the same lines, but I couldn't find it.

Sooo, been here before (some time ago) and it was a competitive experience that everyone took seriously. It jacked everyone up that participated.

Last time out it was 10 guys from work. We each threw $200 in. Winner took all. In order to be fair, the bet was for biggest percentage of weight loss, not number of pounds. There was a formal in person weight in, with witnesses. T-shirt and pants only. Empty pockets. Use of the same digital scale for everyone at both weigh ins. Duration was 60 days.

As an example, if you weighed in at 300 lbs and 60 days later you weighed in at 270 (losing 30 lbs), you’ve lost 10% of your body weight. Conversely, if you weighed in at 200 and lost 30 lbs, you’ve lost 15% of your body weight making you the winner n this scenario.

if 10 guys were in at $500 each, the pot would be $5,000.

Gotta say, if anyone is interested, I’d be in. We could weigh in on January 2nd (in Havasu) and weigh in again say the Sunday of President’s Day weekend. Perhaps Dave would even consider holding the money..

I did one of these many years ago with some coworkers. There were 5 of us all around the same size, we all agreed we needed to lose 20lbs each. The bet was you would have to pay each member $1,000 per lb. for every lb. shy of the goal. Yes $1,000 per lb. assuming they hit the 20 lb loss. They stakes were SO high that we all obviously hit the goal. We wrote up a contract and all weighed in together. The only way you could get out was from a written letter from your Doctor. The duration was 6 months and then we did it again for 6 months to keep the weight off.

People said we were stupid to make it such high stakes but I looked at the other way around. To me it was so simple becasue no one would miss.

Woh . . . you guys don't mess around !
I like your style . . . but that's too rich for my blood, I don't have/make that kind of dough unfortunately.
I'll play along on the sidelines if you guys wanna throw that down again, that'd be awesome !
I know I can lose 25 lbs. easily just by changing my shitty diet.

That was the point

It was too rich for all of our blood and that it why none of missed. No one wanted to say " Honey we have to refi the house because I could not stay away from fast food and cookes "

I'm down for anything that sparkes some competition or accountability I need to drop 20 for sure.

I lost 17% of my body weight in the 60 day challenge (noted above) and ended up lossing the bet to a guy much smaller than me who lost 19%. I couldn’t explain it (I ate nothing but brocoli and protein powder the entire duration) and really thought he had cheated me by stashing rolls of quarters or something (some where on him) at the initial weigh in.

Regardless, it’s not 20 lbs I need to lose, it’s more like 60 plus so I’m up for something..

Wish I had your guys's enthusiasm. I'm usually good about a weight loss goal but these last 2 years it's hard to keep the motivation up when I see doughnuts and cookies and don't have a gym at my disposal.

I'm blaming it on covid..... nevermind I turned 40 two years ago and got lazier LoL

I've been on a diet since beginning of November. Not gonna do a weight loss challenge cause I don't wanna burn myself out being extreme, hoping this is a permanent life change this time around. Best of luck to participants!

My diet is not the issue. I eat too much and don't exercise enough. I am starting something with both of these. I need to drop about 50 lbs. Exercise has always been something I despise. This is a little odd as I don't mind hard physical work. I will go out and work on a heavy, hard, difficult project all day. That said, I hate actual formal exercise.
Mid forties have been murder for me. Covid has not been the best but in reality has not been that big of a change.

I really need to make a few changes.

I would be interested. I am currently 365 and would like to be down to 300. I this is the heaviest I have been and at 40 I don’t see it getting any easier.

I'm down to do whatever as far as a 'challenge' portion goes . . . if someone wants to set up a weigh-in etc. cool . . . I wouldn't be able to roll to Havasu for it though. Maybe just have an 'On your honor' deal? . . . pics of scale w/ progress numbers / check-ins?
Guess I'll have to buy a scale now, damn it.

What are ya guys new? A buncha fat boys do this shit just about every year here. 😂😂
To my credit, I’m not a new fat boy, been there for years…

Was 238 when I got married 32 years ago and have been gaining a pound plus every year there after. At 6 foot I carried it okay when I was younger but not any more.

Have also lost 50 pounds plus more than once. It’s keeping it off that kills me.

I’m ready to try again.

BTW, fat shaming has a very limited impact. And then, mostly on the young and stupid..

I wanna shed some lbs. mostly for my back and knees, they're hating me right now . . .that and the fact that I've got a closet full of perfectly good clothes that 'used to fit'.

Welp . . . broke down and bought the scale I was avoiding.
Wasn't too excited for this Amazon delivery . . . because of the inevitable.
Decided to weigh-in a day early.
Gonna set a goal of 200 by July 1.

Today is Day 1. Let's see if I make it to day 1 of next week too. Or even long enough to enter ketosis 😜

I'm 'starting' with the basics for me . . . mellow on the sugars, easy on the processed breads etc., layoff the beer for a while, more fruit/veggies as snacks, lots of water, & get back to some light exercise for starters. Then hopefully build from there. My buddy & his wife did some trippy diet last year, full regime . . . it worked, but he hated it and put the weight right back on.

I wish I had your mindset, start slow and methodical but I can't. If I don't do anything full bore 💯% I lose interest real fast. It's all or nothing LoL. Just like my ADD

Pretty sure I’ve got you beat by a couple lbs. guessing 260-265. Was 215 pre COVID. Will weigh in tomorrow and post up.
