OK so the question is to the people that have a newer gmc or Chevy 2500HD
Is it worth selling my 2003 duramax with 95k to upgrade
Pros and cons
I know the Def is supposed to be a pain but not horrible
How is the new l5p motor?
How's the A/C whenever it is 115 out in Havasu

Thanks

I would take a serious look at the new expedition it’s probably light years ahead.

Contractor buddy has a 2018 2500 with the Dmax and has had zero issues thus far. He loves the truck and drives from OC to the Bay area pretty frequently for jobs. Those 2020 AT4 HDs look bad ass imo

From what I read it is like a tuned LML. The interior and features will be a big difference. If your 03 has been issue free I would wait until 2021. See how the 2020 new model is first before you buy.

I looked at a new 1500 with the new interior and I thought the seats were terrible
And be honest with you I can't stand the look of the new mirrors on the new HD truck not that impressed I think the 2019 looks way better
That's why I am asking how there are working out for people

Your mistake. You should wait for the 7.3L gasser from Ford coming later this year. But your anti-Ford probably makes you DEF so you can't hear me :D

Hopefully the 7.3l gas is better then the 6.0l and then improved 6.4l diesel that everyone said was going to revolutionize the Diesel Industry
And we all know how that turned out...not so good
So I'll pass on anything that is new

And not really anti ford..the new f250 is pretty nice not going to lie
But they are proud of it and it shows in the price tag
They are the highest price of all 3

I have the 2017 lp5

10k miles so far... AC works great. We use the gmc app on the way to the ramp to get it going by the time I get to the truck it’s cold...

I have a 16, 17 and 19 and when it’s over 110 or so the AC blows warm on all of them if you’re not moving. It happened yesterday at a long red light.

Funny, I typed out a similar thread yesterday but included a what’s it worth for my Lbz then I deleted it. Everyone tells me to drive it until the wheels fall off. I drive it every day so that might be sooner than later.

I have a 2017 HD 2500 Duromax and I love it. DEF is not a big deal. I don't go through much unless I am towing my 5th wheel. When you go to start it you just turn the key and go. No waiting for geo plugs to get hot. Fuel filter can be changed in 5 minutes. It is located under the drivers seat. After you finish you just turn the key on and it self primes. Reset the counter and you are good to go.

The 2020 is all new frame and body, same L5P but will feature a new 10-speed Allison. The interiors are almost identical to the 2019 1500’s. Was looking at the half ton 6.2 gasser but now I think I’ll wait. The new tailgate is badass but I can already see my dumbass dropping it onto the trailer hitch!

I Just got rid of my 18 Denali HD Duramax....... Poor ride quality unless you're towing heavy all the time, and the transmission shift points suck... Def Is, well Def... I went Raptor.

I had a 2007 2500 Duramax with the LBZ and now have a 2019 2500 Denali. Both 4x4 crew cabs with the 2007 being a long bed. Overall the creature comforts in the new trucks are nice, especially on those long trips. I had EFI live in my 2007 with a towing tune so it had a little more giddy up but I'm really impressed with the torque on the 2019. I pull my 5th wheel up Chiraco summit at 60mph at about 1,800rpm. The A/C does just fine out at the river however, the addition of 3M Crystalline on all windows really helped that cause.

The question is, can you stomach the price tag for those creature comforts? In addition your insurance is going to jump and if you live in CA you know damn well the registration is going to have a comma in the price tag. For me, I sold my 2007 due a change in geographical work location which did not allow me to use it as a daily driver any longer. I downsized to a 1500 and loved it but needed a 2500 to pull my fifth wheel. I now have a commuter car and only drive my truck on special occasions, on weekends to the river and to tow my 5th wheel / boats.

I knew the 2020 was coming out and I also knew it would have those door mounted mirrors which I couldn't stomach. Add in the first year of a NBS and I was clearly out for 2020. Overall I'm really happy with the 2019 Denali.

I have a 2016 GMC and my dog asked me to wait for the 2020 models so she could get some real air conditioning vents pointed at her.
This was my biggest complaint and why I didn’t buy a gm. No rear ac.

I would run that 03. These new trucks are nice have tons of power but the def is killing these new trucks.

If you need a hd truck and can get away running a gasser I would go that route.

The problem is see with the 2020 trucks 1st it is fugly 2nd the mirror's are hideous 3rd the seat are god awful and not comfortable.
I was super disappointed looking at the 19 1500 truck
And I am a gm fan all the way..I think they made a mistake I the truck

So in the end I'll bet the dog will ask you to get back the old truck and he will deal with the little a/c vent problem:D

Finally Gm put a factory lift pump on the l5p as the new injectors and cp4 pump are made by densio and not Bosch

I've driven a 08 LMM since 2011. It's deleted with lift pump, dsp5 switch and a few convenience items under the hood. Also rear air bags. I'm always browsing CL or carmax for newer HD trucks but I always come back to mine is paid off and hauls anything I have just fine. It's also pretty fast if it want it to be. Sure the new ones are "nicer" and will have that new car smell but will that overshadow what I'll be giving up......I don't know which is not enough for me to "upgrade".

I vote to drive what you have unless you need more capacity.

Try driving it in the Tow/haul mode, the shifts are at the right point and firmer too.

I got a 2019 Cheby 3500 High Country dually in December. It rides like a dually. I knew that when I bought it. 21,000 miles so far. It uses way more DEF fluid than my 2017 Dmax

I hope the pic of your new truck is older because those clear front windows aren’t your style. Although it is consistent with your good grandpa commuter lol

Thankfully it is. Truck is no longer my borrowed grandpa's. Can't knock the commuter, its like driving your living room down the 405. :D

How many miles are you getting out of a tank of DEF? Mine hit 25% just short of 4K miles but there was quite a bit of towing after I hit 1K miles.

Get a Pedal Box!!!! Insane throttle response! It’s night and day! Pedal Box alone makes it feel like a completely different truck. I run that and I run a Stealth Power Module.
