Now that Desert Storm is over it's time to start planning a new boating adventure. You are all happily invited to join a bunch of friends on June 4 going for a nice offshore ride and spend a fun day on Catalina Island! We will leave in the early morning from Long Beach and spend the day in Avalon. All makes and models are welcome!

This isn't a sanctioned event by Lavey Craft but rather an event amongst friends going out to have some fun. We will do everything we can to keep everyone up to date and spread the word on all information.
Mooring cannot be reserved in advance, although, we will be informing the Harbor Patrol that we are coming, and they will do their best to accommodate us. Lavey Craft is happy to save you time, and headaches for Harbor Patrol, by collecting your information and communicate it to them in one log (as per their request, if at all possible).

So... Who's in?!

We are also trying to set up professional photography to get some awesome shots of us all running out in the big blue as well as getting group pricing for golf cart rentals!

Let's do it......only thing that concerns me is dunking the trailer but I think if I launch from Dana Point, they have hoists or I can just dunk it at Elsinore on the way back.
I should have that weekend off. I'll check my schedule, but I'm pretty sure I'm open.

Lets roll.

Damn this sounds like fun. Wife won't do it with me and won't let the kids go, so who wants to ride with me?!!

I live maybe 10 minutes away from the launch in Long Beach, I'm game to go if you have an open seat.

My Sleek Trailer has been in the ocean in San Diego 4 times. Never a rust problem. I just power wash the blank out of every nook and cranny when I get home.

Should have plenty of room if I end up going. Your more than welcome.

I am still a little gun shy about running my boat that has never touched salt.....going to have to do some thinking.

I may do this run. May have some open seats. I'll check with some of the other SCOPE guys too and see if they want to run.

I just checked my schedule and I'm off that weekend so if OSB decides he doesn't want to dunk his boat, I have gas money if anyone else would have an open seat.

I will talk to the wife on the way home. Pretty sure I will do it because no better way to finally do it than with a group that knows the water.

At least my prop will be nice and shiny after!!

I've been 3 times in my boat. total blast and easy to navigate. once in the shadow of the island the sea smooths out and is great.

the last time I went we had 9 ft rollers 14 seconds apart with 2 to 3 wind chop on top of it all. being down in the trough with 5 ft of swell on either side is a total trip. freak the wife out a bit when I told her to put on a vest. my wife has learned over the years that when I play the safety card shit is gittin real. lol. I never play the safety card.

I've been out in the ocean many times and I've driven to Catalina many times. That run was BY FAR the biggest water I have ever experienced. We all made it to the island and moored up thinking "well that laser guy had to have turned back" a few minutes later there you were!

Ocean boating isn't as crazy as people make it sound. Just run a pace you're comfortable with. Follow a bigger boat so it can knock down the chop for you and you'll be just fine.

I was gonna turn around till Gary with the burgundy and grey 29 slowed up for me to ride his wake. about 8 miles out we were in the shadow of the island and we were able to drop the hammer. so much fun that trip!!

After you do this run once, you will want to do it again and again. Its a lot of fun to drive, a lot of fun to bar hop on the island and a lot of fun with all the people that go.

I have to be in OC on Monday. Maybe I can come early and go. If I can hitch a ride with someone. I have always wanted to boat to Catalina.

Should be outstanding weather.

I'm in. If no room I might bring out the cobra

u gotta run the Razor out there at least once in your life. I'd be running my 23 laser if it wasn't in havasu.

Although I've only flown to Catalina with Tim once, I would love to take my next boat out there.

When you took yours, did you get any pods of dolphins following your wake? I've always wanted to see that too. [emoji41]

yup. about half way out you get into the mix with 100s of dolphins. the trip before the last one we took was the best. it was me the wife and the kids. we got about halfway out and in the shadow of the island and it was dead calm water. wife kids saw something in the distance so we motored over to check it out. 2seconds later we were in the middle of a huge pod. I powered up and the kids went to the bow and the dolphins were under my bow riding with me at 40+ mph. I turned a big sweeping left and my wake created decent wall of water behind me and in that wall you could see the dolphins chasing me and playing in my wake. the kids were excited. it was pretty cool. I think the kids were like 8 and 10 at the time. way cool!!
