Ford Motor Co. will spotlight an improved 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbodiesel as it introduces its 2015 F-series Super Duty lineup today at the Texas State Fair in Dallas.

Among the vehicles Ford will show:

• An updated version of the Super Duty King Ranch edition with a Texas theme.

• A freshened version of the F-450 Super Duty with a beefed up frame, suspension and commercial-grade 19.5-inch wheels and tires.

When it debuts next spring, the upgraded 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 will improve on the 400 hp and 800 pounds-feet of torque in the current version. Performance figures for the 2015 engine were not released.

The engine gets a new GT37 turbocharger with a larger 88-millimeter compressor wheel that will replace the previous GT32. The compressor will force more air into the cylinders to improve performance, particularly at high altitudes, Ford said in a statement.

With the new turbo, new high-pressure fuel pump and fuel injectors, the Super Duty's fuel delivery system has been improved, Ford says. The new injectors, for example, will burn cleaner and result in quieter performance.

Roughly two-thirds of Ford's Super Duty customers buy their trucks with the Power Stroke diesel.

Ford will offer the improved diesel only in Super Duty pickups. Chassis cab models will continue with the current Power Stroke.

Ford said Tuesday that it installed its 500,000th 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel in a truck at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. The engine was introduced in 2010 for the 2011 model year.

Improvements to the F-450 include: upgraded rear driveline U-joints, upgraded suspension including new rear leaf springs, front and rear stabilizer bars and shocks, stronger steering gears and linkages and increased fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailer capacity, Ford said.

In working on the new King Ranch Super Duty, Ford engineers traveled to the King Ranch for inspiration. The 825,000-acre working ranch in south Texas, founded in 1853, is larger than Rhode Island. It is home to 600,000 head of cattle and 300 quarter horses.

The design freshening incorporates the Running W brand, used on the cattle raised on the ranch, which is stitched into the seat backs and imprinted on the center console.

The current F-series Super Duty King Ranch starts at $50,555, including shipping. High-end models including the King Ranch, Platinum and Lariat account for about half of Super Duty sales to individual buyers.

The Ford F-250 and F-350 will go on sale next spring and the F-450 next summer. Ford has not announced prices.

New and improved powerstroke? Is this a new 6.7 international powerstroke or did they throw a few upgrades at the current non international powerstroke that ford designed?

How much more quieter can they make it? It already sounds nothing like a diesel.

I thought Ford worked with Peugeot developing their diesel?

It'll be just another "swing and a miss". They need to focus in their reliability before anything else. Once they have something reliable, like the old 7.3l then tweak it up a little each year.

The 6.7 was.designed with AVL, an austrian consulting firm, that's been around since 1948. they bought a French le car co. in 07'.

im a bowtie guy at heart, but have to say, of our 2 450's 1 550' 1 each of 250/350, only the 550 turbo /intercooler went out for a comb ined total of 200k miles between the 4 trucks.

They need to improve the brakes, has always been a weak link with ford. GM's stop 70 feet shorter from 60-0
I can attest to that with my PD GMC many times over:thumbsup

But your Bow-tie is not American made, it is JAPANESE, and that's where the money goes .....to buy more investments for them here in America, I could be a bow-tie guy if I were looking at muscle cars etc.... but most of the bow-tie truck lines are Toyota/Isuzu collaboration .... NOT AMERICAN MADE, even if Ford has an IH background it's still developed and made in the USA ..... I'm Done .....

For the record, my last bow tie was an 06 LBZ, Our last co. GM truck is an 06 Kodiak. I have a 12' F350 and a 13' flex in my driveway. We own 5 other 08- newer Super duty's, 09/13' Kenworths/Cozad trailers (all AMERICAN MADE). I think we have bought American for our pat on the back:D

Now for grinders: 5 GERMAN made Wirtgens, 3 Cat skid steers. Sorry, at $575/hour, the american Road tec grinders will break like little girls, and we'd be out of biz. Have to go German when money is at stake/lol. Our Wirtgen's sport Cummins engines though, ha ha

we'll we switched..... or are starting to switch, we had at one point 16 Wirtgen profilers, 1 2200 Recycling Machine using both Oil based and Foam injection CIPR, 10 2100 models, 4 1900 and 1 1900 with a concrete drum, too light.... we are now switching over to the Road Tec line of Pavers and Profilers, easier too maintain, accessible parts can be found locally instead of waiting for parts from Germany, after 15+ years, it was hard to make this commitment, but as the largest Paving Contractor, we had to have reliability, now we have 6 of the Road Tec 700 4 track models, and are waiting for them to develop a mini, coming shortly so they say, in the meantime, we still use Wirgen Mini's but they are on the last legs..... We have to buy American Made, can't spend the money on Foreign or we can't get the funding.....Wedge

were.woman owned biz (wife), so it doesnt matter what we run for.caltrans. We had the first 4 footer from road tec in ca 2 years ago, what a pos. the electronics were awful. the fact they spray everything on the macine white, hoses, etc, just speaks cheap.
we just sold our 01 2100 to mexico. figured it made $4 million easily in profit in its timespan. Much easier to maneuver in neighborhoods too.

Have no problem cutting cul-de-sac bulb with either the 2100 or 700, both with 4 tracks, have to keep production up ahead of Paving crews, standard is 50,000 sq ft residential @ 1.5 - 2.0 " or 80,000 sq's @ 2.5" on select streets, all streets have to be open for traffic at the end of the day.... and were not even talking about paving, we have 4 full time paving crews sometimes 5/6 depending on needs and our plants usage.... but like I said, we are in house and don't give anything to contract, Caltrans will sub out to guys like you and your wife (minority/female owned) and we can't or haven't in a number of years, 1996 was last we did, we may in the future depending on if we get this next money will require us to do additional 300 centerline miles of recon, and we may need some assistance, depends on what they will allow, and what we can keep, Feds make us Lease, because we can't have any financial gain after 3/5 years of usage, Lease only, that is why Road Tec is kissing our ass's right now, no down time at ALL allowed under our current maintenance agreement...... love it....

we only grind, have 3 big mills, 2 4ft 120's and 2 operational 272C/D Cat mini's. We have the Kiewitt 405 contract, DWP/ Hood cintract , and are on the 5/14 and 10 in Palm Springs currently. Going to Jamal next week for 18 days.

Our top operator can grind 100K sq's in a day, of course he's been on a mill since 14, is 33 now. Family trade/biz in second generation now:thumbsup

St Sat/Sun full width (65') @ 3.5" 6000 +/-tons on Sat and 7000 +/- tons on Sunday. Finish cut to Past Parthenia St, the next week and completed paving on the following Sat/Sun all told Paved Canoga from Victory Blvd to Marilla St. almost 23,000 tons PG 64-10 in 4 days.... and my managers said it couldn't be done ...... Hah :D:D:D
