2014 Catalina - PHOTOS

With the 2014 Catalina Ski Race just a little over a week away I wanted to post a few photos from years past to get this thread started. I will be posting more form this year's race here as well. I will be on the Start Boat or the Media boat, so will be trying to get pics of all racers at start of at least coming across the finish line.

May be doing a practice run this weekend so will watch for anybody else that may be out.

Kind of cool pic I took when I was running next to Mini Muffin Saturday after the ski race.

What a race!. I have been attending this race and photographing it for well over 10 years and never been so glad to be there as this year. I have never seen such a close race, and Never heard the spectators on the Queen Mary and on the boats screaming so loud for the finish. A huge congrats to Todd for breaking the most wins record and a new time record, and a big thanks to all that made this race happen. Already looking forward to next year, but until then here are a few photos from the race. I have many more to post, so if you're looking for anybody / boat let me know and I will do my best to get it up here for you.

Looking at group 2 shots shows boat #79 not only come across my bow at the start to miss you in the start boat he already crossed the #18 Nordic. Let off hard twice but finally got passed them and the hell away from La Frenz. Hope to see you at the Small Boat CSR in a few weeks.

I believe the one in a couple of weeks allows up to 27', but certain classes (Mens Open, F2, etc.) must be behind 21' boats if I am not mistaken.

8:53am SHARP: 66TH Catalina Ski Race START Between Islands White and Island Grissom, Long Beach Harbor. Split start, Minimum 7 minutes apart. (Weather/visibility permitting) First flight: 24-foot boats/9:00am Second flight: all others.
