2011 Elsinore Marathon Photos

Here's a few photos from the Elsinore Marathon race. Most are from Saturday and as usual I have many many more I have to go through and will post in galleries and on my zenfolio page when I get more time.
I wanted to say big thanks to Scott Wendt in the #7 boat for letting me fill the observers seat during Saturdays warm up and also to Howard Hoggins in the #14 for doing the same for Daren (1manwolfpack). A big thanks to #289 for pulling JT in the mini's and can't say enough about wonder woman Lori Dunsmore and all the good will and experience she provides anywhere she goes.

F'ing awesome! That ride is solid and fast, it feels like it's on a rail in the turns and get's up and G..G..G..Goes haha.

Need to get you a ride in a F2 boat now. Feels like an overpowered kite. They are way different even at low speeds (35-40).

Took the toon out and shot a few on Saturday after lunchbreak caught one good race then the wind changed direction and we knew it would be bad going back across the lake so we hi tailed it home. Probably one of the top 3 worst water days I have been in on the lake, chop was coming from all directons.

It was tough shooting, nothing like Parker where the action is so close to shore. Hopefully they're worth a look.

You're right, when the wind kicked up Saturday it was like a scene out of a disaster movie watching all the activity around the launch ramp.
I was impressed with the patience all the competitors showed while dealing with the "civilians" who were clogging up the docks and ramp.
I'm going through those photos again so I'll post a few more from the "carnage at the launch ramp later"

If you want to make a trip up north for the Sugar Barge, Lakeport and Pittsburg Marathons, turn boat access could be arranged. Some of the coolest photos that I've been able to take was during the men's marathon a few years back while out on the turn boat @ Pittsburg. sean

I'm pretty sure Daren and/or I won't make the 800 mile round tripper for the upcoming race but we'll see about getting up to at least one or two of them, I'd really like to do more shooting.

Thanks, much appreciated. I know it's tough shooting from a boat but since the pontoon sits higher, has a bit more room and probably a bit more stable i'd rather get a handful of great close shots compared to shooting a thousand long range shots.
