496 does a little better then a 502mpi. My 502 mpi would do 60 any day and a max of 63-64. Took an additional 300+hp to make it an any day 75+ mph boat! Hardly worth the investment but it’s fun. I tell people all the time if you want a fast Hallett buy a vector with good power!

502 Mpi wakes up quite a bit with manifolds. Stock for stock its funny because a 496Ho makes 390-395 at the prop. 502mpi is rated at 415 at the prop.

Like you said 65mph propped right light load optimum conditions.

Yup even though the 496 is a better motor in stock platform the 502 is a better buy in my opinion. Power output for the 502 is endless.... just depends how deep your wallet is!
